Champion of Wits - when cast draw 2, when eternalized draw 4? [Devs Aware]

Not sure if as intended - when cast from hand Champion of Wits is discard 1 draw 2. When brought back via eternalize (as 4/4), it’s discard 1 draw 4.

Hi @BigMattSwizzle
That is in fact not an intended functionality, and the developers are aware of this bug. There is an open bug report, and they are working on a fix for it.

That isn’t a bug, the paper card reads:

When Champion of Wits enters the battlefield, you may draw cards equal to its power. If you do, discard two cards.
Eternalize

(

, Exile this card from your graveyard: Create a token that’s a copy of it, except it’s a 4/4 black Zombie Naga Wizard with no mana cost. Eternalize only as a sorcery.)

So, the eternalized copy should draw 4

Right but the PQ version strictly says 2 cards in both cases. They don’t blanket copy every card effect. A lot of them get changed.

That is true, but the text on the Eternalized infobox (the one that pops up when you tap the eternalized gem) used to say “draw 4” as well.

But eternalize is supposed to mimic the card’s abilities exactly, right? That’s how eternalize is worded.

Is there a reason to want it to be draw 1?

I want all cards to function as worded or else have the wording or function revised so they match. I don’t care if this makes cards stronger or weaker.

They could say “etb… Draw cards equal to this creature’s base power.” to fix it. This would not only be simpler, but would also stick to the original card. @brigby
