I just received the rewards of the colors of Magic event and i Can hardly hide my disapointment.
While everything has been made to Make us players think that the rewards would be packs from the New Chandra spellbook set … The rewards are in fact a 3-cards red Booster … With a very limited set of cards, an thus an higher chance of duplicates.
Seriously … Not even a 5-card booster?
Oh… I was about to forget that half the cards are from origins (that most of us already own since ages) … And have nothing to do with chandra’s lore … what a scam …
The packs can drop around 70 different uncommon+ cards from ORI, M21, and ZNR. Only 3 cards in a pack, but drop rates are similar to From the Vault packs, so chances of getting high rarity cards out of these are much better than from normal 5-card packs, despite having fewer cards.
Chance of dupe doesn’t depend on how many cards are possible in a given pack, but on how many of those you already own.
I was hoping they would at least contain some PMA cards too, but I was not surprised that Chandra Anthology packs are different to PMA packs, because the pack name is not the same. It seems PMA packs are the only way to get PMA cards (for now).
The MPs were Goblin goliath, obsidian fireheart and Warren instigator (not sure about this one).
As far as mythics are concerned i remember spark masticore, hangarback Walker, double vision, brash taunter … don’t remember the rest which reflects how exciting was that list to check.
I must confess i just took a Quick look at it when i realized there was nothing from the New MPA cards and i already owned almost all the cards in the booster.
However, a significant detail that deserves to be noticed IS that the droprates are higher than usual ones. If i remember well the MP droprate was around 4% …
Among the lot of filler cars you Can find some elementals (which was expected in a Chandra booster) … But Also several goblins and constructs … That arent really linked to chandra in terms of story, except the fact she Comes from kaladesh and IS a red Walker.
Obviously, but the chance of owning every card is lower in a wider pool of cards. Isnt it?
If we assume the conditions are the same in terms of number of opened packs and droprates, of course.
I noticed the names were diferent beetween PMA and the reward boosters … And i thought they might be diferent … But i never would have expected SUCH a diference.
Besides, i took the fact those anthology packs were only available in very restricted number for the highest ranks in the leaderboard as a sign of a valuable reward. The simultaneous release of both packs, a Chandra Walker and and the event made the rest of the trick.
Agree with OP. Complete disappointments. How could anyone think these would be exciting to open? A single PMA card would have been better. Or give something with non-dupe protection
To be honest, a lot of efforts have been made in terms of design, creativity, game mechanics or bug tracking and fixing.
But, even if it gets better, there’s still a lot to do about communication in order to give players a Real feeling of comfort and transparency.
For what it’s worth, i am overall very respectful (and as thankful as a customer can be) for the general direction and dedication of the team. However, the small things still tend to provoke disapointment where the global dinamic create great expectations.
