I am currently transitioning to building a 4* roster. I have all, but one 3* member who is about to be rostered in a week. My farm is in it’s second rotation with four or five ready to be sold.
My current problem is that I have the following covers in my cue which I’m hoping to roster all or most in a creative way. I’m wanting some feedback if you see any major problems with it.
My plan is to sell off my championed 2s the day a new 4 cover will expire if I don’t have the HP to buy the slot. This is likely will need to be done multiple times as these covers expire. I’ll hoard packs until I’ve rostered all that are currently in the cue, then restock the 2* farm as I get the leftover HP to do so. Then I’ll resume a regular pattern of waiting for 1000 HP and then open packs again or roster a 4* or 5* earned from progression or through event tokens.
Here is what is coming down the pipe and the days left for them at the time of this post:

blue 4 (recently rostered, just holding on training in case there is a reason to sell the other)

The thing is I could be caught in this loop indefinitely since I have a lot of 4*s to roster and the events themselves and new characters coming out will constantly be hitting me with new folks.
Just buy the Hero Points for slots.
Like you said, you’ll go through this every two weeks when a new character is released.
It’s simply not worth the headache.
Yes, just throwing money at the game is definitely the easiest way to solve the problem.
If you are not interested in doing so, then your plan is a good one. However, there a few things to point out:
how did you get so many 4* covers in your queue? Whatever you did, don’t do that again for a while. Definitely hoard a bunch of tokens if you need to - they won’t expire, after all.
rank your 4*s and decide who you can reasonably afford to waste covers for - from your list, Drax and War machine are probably candidates to sell if you are short on slots. There are a couple of good character rankings in this forum that should help you decide.
don’t kill your 2* farm entirely. The road to 4* land is long, and the HP you earn from your 2* champs will help open the roster slots you need now and in the future.
you don’t really need to roster DD right now. Yeah, it’s nice to have all the 3s rostered, but they are way more common than 4s - you’ll have plenty of chances to roster him again. Even just selling the first cover you have and rostering the 2nd one when it’s about to expire might buy you enough time to roster most if not all of your 4*s.
track how much HP you earn in a 2 week period, since that’s usually when new characters are released. The amount over 1000 will tell you how long it will take you to “catch up” on roster slots. If it’s going to take longer than you are willing to wait, it might be worth putting some money down to speed things up a bit.
FWIW, I’m in a similar position to you right now, with all 3s and 29 4s rostered and 4hor and Medusa in the queue (roster in sig is a little out of date). I am using a similar strategy to what you outlined above and it’s worked out well for the most part.
One bit of brand new information that may mess with your strategy. With the new design of DDQ, having all of the 2 star characters (except Bagman) on your roster is necessary to plat The Big Burrito on a daily basis.
Well, keeping a cache of twostar covers queued and rostering whoever you need for the Burrito that day might work too. Long term you definitely want a two-star farm though.
That new DDQ change is definitely going to complicate things for me as I try and factor that into deciding who it might be safe to sell. I just sold off BW and Torch I believe to roster Thing and Bucky. Thor has already been sold. Magneto was sold and rerostered a week ago at the start of this. I’m only 150 HP from my next slot, but I’ll probably spend that on 3* Daredevil since I have all three covers from the Season progression.
I may have to miss a few of the Behemoth Burrito nodes due to a missing 2*, but it’ll more likely be because I’m also missing the 4*. I’m at about 12 of them now.
My HP will be behind schedule for a month or so while I recoup my 2* farm after rostering all these 4*s. Temporary problem and maybe only losing a few CPs for a bit.
If you can, try to complete the Crash node on a day when you are locked out of the Behemoth Burrito (or another node). That way you can still get the progression taco that day.
