After the Enemy of the State event, I had about 14 event tokens. None were rare.
After the Prodigal Sun event, I had about 7 event tokens. I pulled Sentry (red), Spiderman (yellow), Hood (Blue), and 3* Magneto (Blue) all in a row!
This isn’t the first time this has happened. One season I had 0 rares from my 10 pack, only to receive 4 rares in the following season’s 10 pack. I guess it usually evens out, but I find it odd.
I usually have no luck in Event token pulls, but my last three in Prodigal Sun were Elektra black (my first cover for her), Blade green and Luke Cage black. Pretty damn happy with that.
Marvel Puzzle Quest really is a phenomenal lesson in how clump-y and non-random feeling randomness is.
Personally, I currently don’t believe that Taco Tokens are capable of dispensing HP, all evidence to the contrary aside. This is because I have been marginally unlucky in not opening one so far, and am stuck 25 HP away from being able to afford a roster slot for Iron Fist, which is slowly driving me mad.
This is totally true. I think I had a string of event tokens dispensing 2* after 2* for about three weeks running, then this week, I’ve had 1750HP from my Taco Tokens
Go figure.
It does seem to be either feast or famine. I am ritualized on my token openings (Once a day, in the evening, no more than 10 standard tokens, stop if I hit ** or better, one event token, one heroic.) One day when I was off from work, and a little tipsy, I popped a red luke cage from an event token, whooped joyfully, and thought “Holy Hell! Why not test the RNG God’s patience, and pop another?” So I did. ANOTHER RED LUKE CAGE. I suspected my iPad was probably planning to kill me after a run of such luck, so I put it in the closet and went off to do some laundry and run the dishwasher. The next day? Moonstones and ** Captain Americas - whew balance restored. I don’t want to be on the hit list of some RNG daemon for “beating the house”.
I normally get about one rare per event from the tokens. Prodigal sun got me a Luke cage and dead pool got me a Cmag so far. I don’t think I ended of getting a rare during enemy of the state though.
Taco tokens have given me nothing but 250 to 500 iso a day since it launched.
I’ve had 2 10 packs from the last to seasons and got 5000 iso for my efforts. Apparently from the very low amount of golds from event tokens I’d say 90% of my golds have come from standard tokens.
DDQ so far equals 4000 iso a day and a needed 3* for my transition for I can’treally ccomplain.
Tokens are a supplement, not a main-stay. If you get 10 golds from your 10-pack, great. If you get none from your 10-pack, you’ll probably get one from a token in the near future.
Events haven’t been kind to me as well which is disappointing after all the effort you put in. Deadpool is also laughing at me consistently. 1/27 and that 1 was
Then I have days like today where I pull three 3
from standard tokens a few hours apart. One I can’t remember right now because I sold, a
, whom I don’t care much about, and just a few minutes ago
. Great day for 3
covers. Now, I have to prepare myself for the 3-4 weeks of drought and hope I pull the last black XF I need.
This is such a good way to describe this phenomenon.
A real world example is cancer clusters. Small regions where there seems to be much higher rates of cancer patients showing up than “average.” Cancer is serious stuff so naturally some really smart people start investigating why so many people are getting cancer in that one particular place, is it in the water, the air, something they are eating, genetics, or something else entirely??? Sometimes there is a problem and measures are taken to fix it. Sometimes it is just a completely random clumping of cancer incidents that have no rational explanation aside from, you all are just on the very unlucky end of random. Averaged over a larger area everything goes back to fitting the expected model.
Human nature hates that explanation though. Try telling someone his wife has cancer and so do 6 other people in their small town but its not being caused by anything really, just happened that way. Sorry.
Well that’s the Gambler’s Fallacy…sort of. The idea being that after a streak of bad luck you are “due” for a round of good luck. Except the odds never change (unless in this case the Devs actually tweak the probability of a given cover to show up).
But generally speaking, the odds are what they are, and no amount of crap pulls (or stellar pulls for that matter) has any impact on what a future pull will be.
Of course having said that, I’m on a particularly nasty streak of 2* covers from all tokens (event & taco). I certainly want to believe I’m due for a shiny gold cover (my kingdom for a Patch
to get me started), but alas, RNGsus is displeased with me.
HA!! Well, I did get my shiny gold token this morning, though it was Falcon
, which I already have maxed out. So 2 Falcon covers sold this morning, (had
maxed also).
Yes, but why take the risk of a lawsuit and bad press when people will buy tokens at bad odds anyways? Further, the user collected token probabilities pretty much line up with the percentages that they advertise.
