What are the little gold planeswalker tabards on top of some coalition pictures? Do they mean anything? Will there be other colors?

I bet this thread is very similar to the conversations the devs have while trying to debug this game.

Definitely not; I’m silver in 0blivion and our coalition has one
It looks like the symbol is awarded to coalitions ranked in the top 1000. Just clicking through “Random” on the coalition list I’ve noted that all below 1000 have it and above don’t.
A few more clicks have shown one at 997 with it, and one at 1005 without.
