Hallows eve - warning!!!!

the objectives state summon but most likely means cast.

I just played my first match and lo and behold the old problem of what the text means returns.

the objective says summon 7-13 zombies, but cards like under the floorboards , oath of Liliana, liliana’s mastery and the like do not count as summon, though all these card uses the phrase “summon x zombies”.

so get out your big zombie army and cast away.

Tokens haven’t counted as summoning for a loooong while now…

And the brackets are screwed up. I try not to complain too much but they took what should have been a fun event and fucked it up.

Yeah but the last time we played Hallows Eve tokens DID count!!! :# :s

Also, you are FIXED once you choose your PW, so if you have any doubts about which one, in the words of a ghostly templar, “You must choose.. wisely…”

Tokens should count. They don’t but they should.

Summon - Tokens count
Cast - Tokens don’t count

That’s how it should be and both the text and the code needs to be reworked to reflect this.

Paper uses the keyword ‘create’ for tokens.

So it would be clearer if teh objective said ‘Cast or Create 13 zombies’

@journeymage - Yes but MTGPQ do not use keywords!!!

What you think is keywords are just random words that have been written in bold (occasionally).

For the use of Keywords like discard, cast, summon, spell, support and more, then the keyword must mean the same each and every time. That is not the case in MTGPQ. If you think that you figured out a keyword, then a new or old card will disprove your theory.

The event for me…

I was getting 13+ zombies via non-tokens for the first 4 matches…

Then I got really board and thought, I wish tokens counted. It would make it soooooooo much faster and funner.

At the moment, I have to destroy my own creatures (without much benefit) to get that many on the board in order not to kill the opponent. That management aspect takes the fun out of it for me.

Except in TDW and RotGP, where they did, which prompted my previous plea for them to standardize text.

Not that anyone remembers TDW.

Actually, I think the tokens that counted in TDW were from planeswalker abilities and cards that made tokens still didn’t count (I could be wrong though, it has been a veeery long time)

The only real issue in this case is the numbers for the objectives (7 and 13) were made back when tokens always counted for everything (remember when someone hitting you with a Turn to Frog would cost you a “summon X or less” objective?). There’s nothing wrong with tokens not counting anymore, the numbers just need to be tweaked a bit

It could be so easily fixed by including “nontoken” in the objective, there, done with less than a second of typing out that word.

Mot exactly . Bringing back from graveyard also may be counted as summon. As so nontoken is simply not sufficient.
Cast
Summon
They have different meaning in paper so I think it should be reflected here as well

Yes, you’re mistaken re: TDW. Both abilities and cards worked; I can personally confirm Primal’s Glorious Rebirth and Vivien’s Invocation. Similarly in RotGP, I know Deploy works on 3.1.

Regardless, we’re on the same page here. Without tokens counting–and considering tokens are a huge part of zombie strategy–this is as ridiculous as the “summon eldrazi” objectives that frustrated everyone.

My time is worth more.

Let me be the first to thank all the people who decided to not run zombies and just go for OP legacy creatures. You guys are the best.

This made me laugh, thank you. I ran into the OP prevent damage horse deck.

I finally realized why everyone has a second account… to insert OP counter decks.

There should be a minimum of 3 zombies in your deck in the rules.

I just realized this event ends at 5 am EST and the last charge enables at 12 midnight EST. C’mon! That’s just rude.

I tried being nice, but after multiple Bolas1 and no switching, I had to go to non zombie just so I could win, forget secondaries or placing… :disappointed:

Almost all of these weekday legacy events do that (although I think they end at 6 am, not 5)

I have lost many perfects due to the need for sleep (and lost much sleep hunting perfects)
