Well, I think we’ve all had our fair share of frustration, disappointment and the whole range of human emotion on the negative end of the scale when it comes to game bugs, losses, AI cascades, etc. I’m guilty of all those things. And yes, I take to this forum and other chats to rant about them. I know I don’t stand alone.
But I thought maybe it would be nice to share enjoyable moments here. We have the safe rant thread (which was/is beyond brilliant!). So now to the other end of that. I think it is still important to remain ourselves of those fun and enjoyable moments.
I for one still can’t believe I’ve had this much luck on the current rotation of the Elite Mythic Packs.
Today I pulled my 4th masterpiece in the set… Keiga.
All that remains in Kokusho… So I hope I’ll be crazy enough to try another roll on the pack and actually pull it. Imagine that - owning all masterpieces of a set…
My coalition is simply amazing — 11th place in HoD amidst full and partial lockouts. Everyone kept their chins up and made the best of it. You guys and girls make this game a joy every day.
Out of the 5 masterpieces I have, 3 of them were pulled from a 5 card booster. The other 2 were pulled in like 10 attempts at an elite pack. I find this hilarious.
I had one of those rare matches in which some internally debated card ordering snatched victory from an otherwise losing position. I had two play options that could have given an out and finally settled on one that gave higher odds of success that panned out. One of those rush moments where you actually feel careful strategy made a big difference. A little rare, but those experiences are unique and highly rewarding.
I hate you so much right now. Been chasing her literally for years now (well, year + but you know what I mean).
Saddest moment of my MTGPQ experience was seeing a multicolor wiggle in an SOI pack and it turning out to be a Grim Flayer
I finally gave up on sandbagging in Silver, and I have so many fun cards to try out! Like Settle the Wreckage to go with my Nyx :). Sphinx’s Decree too.
Great idea for a thread; it can be easy to forget sometimes, but for all of its faults, this game has a lot to appreciate as well.
I’m thrilled to finally move on from the turbo-cycling Standard metagame (HOU is thankfully much more restrained in its power level on that front); I’m more excited about the prospects for deckbuilding than I’ve been in months (maybe longer).
The community in this game is amazing, warts and all; I wouldn’t still be playing if it weren’t for all of the humor, insight, creativity, and dedication (among other things) from everyone along the way, both related to the game itself and extending beyond that into almost every conceivable subject as well (including many I hadn’t even realized existed).
I’m grateful that the first coalition I happened to join also ended up being one I still enjoy playing in over 1.5 years later (approaching 2 in a few months); I didn’t know the community at all when coalitions were first forming, so that was just dumb luck (on my part at least; @majincob, @Nitymp, and others deserve a ton of credit for putting several cohesive groups together in the early days of coalitions), yet in hindsight it turned out to vastly outweigh all of the disappointing pack drops, exasperating bugs, confusing idiosyncrasies, and frustrating RNG losses this game has had to throw at me, and I’d wish everyone else (many of whom no doubt have had similar experiences) the joy of playing alongside a group of people who make the whole experience worthwhile even at its lowest points and who can justifiably be described as “the best coalition in the game” by whatever metric for “best” matters most to the people in it.
