Hatchery Spider doesn't show 2 "different" cards [Investigating]

I repeatedly got 2 Rites of Itlamoc to pick between with Hatchery Spider, instead of that and one of my creatures.

Same thing has been happening to me.

Some people are saying that “different” means different from Hatchery Spider rather than 2 different cards, but if so then this is REALLY bad wording and it’s not consistent since quite a few other cards specifically say they can’t fetch themselves. (Hazoret’s and Season’s Past being the big two!)

@Brigby It works fine.

The spider will show the next two possible cards in your deck which can be fetched. Those cards can be either creatures or supports. If you ripped all the creatures out of your deck w Growing Rites, then of course the next few cards the spider sees are not going to be creatures, they will be supports. Whic( you then cast, and rip our even more creatures, etc.

if you want the spider to fetch spiders, try playing a deck w no supports in it.

@ManiiNames While this may be right about some of it, the “different” wording means that I should be getting 1 Itlamoc and another support or creature further down the deck, never 2 Itlamocs no matter what else has been done first.

And Undergrowth is nowhere near 14.

Muldrotha is another card which says “X different cards” on it and yet never offers you multiple copies of the same card as a selection.

Whilst it’s debatable whether the intent of Hatchery Spider is to let it fetch and cast unlimited copies of itself from the graveyard, the term “X different cards” should be consistent across all cards.

Not fixed in 3.1 if anyone were wondering.

just got the same support to choose from.
