When a Lightning round comes up, I know I don’t have a shot at the real prizes, so I throw together a team of low-level 3-star villains, beat up on the weak bots until I get the token for earning 50 points, then stop playing. This saves the health of my real fighters and gets me participation awards without much fuss, but will it also make the matchmaking algorithm think my main team is weaker than it really is? I’ve been encountering lower level opponents than I usually do in the Avengers tournament…

after a couple of rounds it will be back to normal.
Are you getting defeated by other players? If so, yes. Otherwise, no. End ranking in the tournament doesn’t matter at all to MMR (afaik).
Yeah, I do get beat up quite a few times. I have slightly stronger villains now though than I used to (two covers instead of one) so the effect might be smaller now.
