I didn’t know that was possible since I always believed their was a cap to it, especially at only 500. I’m pretty sure this wasn’t intentional on the devs part since it never use to be this bad.
Oh, I thought you meant you lost 166 points from one person only rather than 8 people. Whats your team? We’re down to the last hour, so that’s when everyone gets attacked.
This upper matchmaking needs to be addressed because ppl will quit over this. Whats the point maxing out a team when ur placed in a hard bracket with similar teams while a lvl 50 doom hood gets easy punisher covers.
ELO point system assumes both players have an equal chance to win. This is flat out not true in MPQ. Let’s say you’re playing a guy that has a 33% chance of beating you in a ‘fair’ game. In MPQ, the player has an overwhelming advantage over the defender, so let’s say that you have +50% chance to win due to going first (and boosts and being able to select who to target). Then that guy suddenly has 83% chance to beat you. Now, you have 100% chance of beating that guy when retaliating, but if points are done in true ELO style then you’ll lose in the long run. By the ELO system the 33% chance to win player gets 33 points for beating you and you get 16 points for beating him (since you win twice as often as he does). So, his expected payoff is 0.83 * 33 = +27 points, while your payoff is 1*16 = +16 points, so he gains 11 points on you each time you play each other. Further it’s not just that guy. It’s every guy that’s about ~150 points lower than you have this kind of favorable odds so your rating will quickly plummet.
To combat this, there used to be points created out of thin air in each match, which softens the blow to the highly rated person, because he’s not actually getting the fair odds as his rating would indicate due to the overwhelming advantage of the attacker.
Yup, definitely wouldn’t doubt that. If the game somehow added in low level 3* characters on your defense team, then that’s probably why you are getting attacked so much.
