The way health loss works now is not so good. There are two ways it looks to the player:
A) You have Spidey/OBW in your roster and go through a monotonous 2-3 minute battle in the prologue to heal up. There’s no chance of dying in this battle, or strategy involved, so it’s really boring, but because these guys can’t heal outside of battle (maybe they’re easily distracted?) you have to sit through it.
B) You don’t have a healer, and you either repeat a battle with Spidey as a guest (same tedium as above) or suck it up and use a health pack or wait a very long time.
It’s not great to force players to do boring stuff, and IMO it’s not great having a couple characters who change how the game works so completely outside of real fights. I like how limited-but-regenerating health packs force players to be more careful about wiping and limit the ability to charge into hopeless battles again and again, but that could be retained just by keeping (or even increasing) the time characters have to spend as corpses before they can be used again.
I’m not sure what the best solution here is: maybe increase HP regen speed to something much, much faster? That would simulate the way HP can be completely recovered in a couple minutes in one prologue battle, without actually making players wade through one again. Or go in the other direction and make it so character HP is limited to what they entered a battle with: you can’t exit a battle with more HP than you started it. Other ideas are welcome. I just know that I love the fun parts of MPQ but the next time I have to slap around level 50 Dark Avengers to get HP back I’m going to hurl.
