Increasing your score in The Hunt event

Can someone please explain to me how to increase your score in events like the Hunt?

I started playing right when the event went live, played all of the levels, and topped out 586 points. None of the events are repeatable, so I don’t understand how the top guy has 1408 points considering we both played the same events.

How do the rewards change? How do you get more? What am I missing?

Completing “The Hunt” opens up new chapters (Alaska is the first one) with repeatable missions.
