Expensive? This is a downright bargain. I mean, he’s still cheaper than Kiora.
Then again, I thought Bolas would be over 1000 too, so my valuations may be a bit off.
650 maybe…850 is a new level of price
650 is the cost for any 2-color walker. And Bolas costs 850 in the vault as a 3 color. I think Karn is better than a 2 color and his leveling cost is the same as Bolas, so the 850 is perfectly reasonable. And again, 850 isn’t even the most expensive walker offered in the vault, so I’m not sure where your “new level” comment is coming from.

Karn is colorless so he should be free 
I mean, with how he’s made he is basically a 5 color. So by that logic he should cost about 1300 or so.

I still would have preferred him having access to no colors, but can use colorless cards from any set.

Kiora was changed to 650 somewhere around a year ago. I can’t know for sure because I decided she was the first Planeswalker I wanted (after the basic 5) a bit more than a year ago, and I got her at the higher price (900 or 950, I don’t remember which). I absolutely made the right choice, she got me through an insane amount of the game with a really mediocre collection.
I’m the same, I got her for 950 back when she first came out. And 950 back them (before events) was the equivalent of like 1500 now. She was worth every crystal. Best. Walker. Ever.
I was pretty pissed when I found out they dropped the cost, though. If I paid 950, everyone should pay 950. Fair is fair.
Crystals are easy enough to get these days, so having it slightly more than the 2 olors is more than reasonable.
Or they could just refund those of us that bought her for 950 the 300 crystal diffference.
