I feel left behind with these new sets due to poor luck. Spent all my resources on Ixalan (4000 crystals on PPs and Vraska and 1200 purples for Elitepacks). Managed to get only 3 mythics (lots of dupes gave orbs enough to craft my third mythic when it became possible) and 11 rares. But have all common and uncommon.
And have no RIX yet since I have tried playing the new cards for a change and getting nearly no resources from events.
I have tried all tribes now in AI and TG and can not build a deck that is somewhat near competetive. Fun when you hit every card right and synergize but mostly they fizzle and get stomped due to lacking some top cards to get the decks going.
I face new tribal decks every day which look like fun, but I’m still playing the same decks I did 6 months ago to have a chance of winning and get new resources. It’s like I’m playing an older version of the game.
Well, I know how you feel. I got pretty lucky in Ixalan at first, but I bought two RIX premium packs and got the exact same rares. Plus, I’m regularly play against decks with 2-3 really good Masterpiece while I have two nearly non-playable one (Ornithopter and Avatar of Woe).
Bottom line: Some peeps just have more luck then others. Sadly enough.
yeah that in my opinion was always the perk of things like tribal secondary objectives, it pushed people to play outside of the most powerful cards they have.
Like with Innistrad and the “play 3 vampires” objective: I mean, there are some powerful vampires out there…but I’d rather face them than a legion of Emrakuls
So do i … The really early release of RIX was cool because it allowed to make XLN mechanics more playable … But it would have been better to announce this release schedule before players spent all their currencies on XLN packs.
In fact, it looks like the timer on packs represent the release of the next set … XLN timer was 1 month … Now RIX is 2 month and a few days… I suppose we can deduce when dominaria will be out. (Any confirmation from the devs would be cool though).
Well, before spending all currency on a set, check out what cards are in it, and what percentages of getting a rare or mythic are. When Ixalan came out, I even created a thread, about how bad Ixalan boosters were gonna be, telling people to not buy it.
The funniest thing is, they even reduced the chance of getting a rare in ixalan after that. Now it is about 50 % for rare and 10 % for mythic.
In conclusion, you have really no one to blame except yourself.
Im not blaming anyone else for spending my resources. Just that RNGesus isn’t with me atm and that wiser players like you can say how much better you are.
But venting here might actually give some encouragement (trying to do so with my non-playing wife gave nothing of understanding) from others who have done the same.
I will say that the adjustment to a lot of the XLN cards with the release of RIX has improved it’s worthiness greatly. I would say both sets are on pretty equal footing overall. I do agree though that a tentative release schedule would be nice. I have no doubt the quick sequential releases was intentionally unmentioned so that people would blow a lot of resources on XLN and then be left feeling short for RIX and therefor more likely to fork over cold hard cash.
I haven’t checked the math, but is it possible that they just seed the random pool “x” amount per card? For example, 100 of each common, 75 of each uncommon, 10 of each rare, and 1 of each mythic?
In this model, smaller sets with higher concentrations of mythics would end up with better odds of pulling one.
