still 200% buff .. guess its gonna be another 2 days of lightning rounds i cannot compete in .. ppl that already have the buffed characters are soooooooo out of my league its not even funny. 3x 10k hp chars that can destroy you in simply 3x matching .. no skills need to be used.
Sorry to hear that. In first I buffed I was able to compete quite well, because there weren’t that many high level characters, but then I had to spent 2 weeks slowly building my team and hope to do well this week.
I see people are relentlessly beating up on my BagMan too. Why so much hatred for the bag?
And note that since there’s been no patch of any kind the tournament really is the exact same – Hood’s scoring is still messed up, 200% buffs, etc. Expect it to run for 48 hours again as well.
at the beginning it worked perfectly but then its become a fad and everyone is getting spread out into lower brackets and meeting up with other people doing the same.
look at the brackets and waiting to get into a better one philosophy. i didn’t even join the red iso tournament til long time in (thanksgiving weekend purposes, i had no chance to play), and even then i had names in my bracket that i recognized from the forum who clearly play as much as me.
the ‘strats’ to get better placements etc are becoming more and more widespread and the advantage of using this strat is becoming lesser.
It’s quite easy to get to the 100 point progression reward and that’s a lot of ISO relative to effort. Definitely worth playing in the lightning rounds just for the ISO alone.
A bit more of a stretch but still do-able is to get the Heroic tokens. Might not always get it but if your team is weak, think of the heroic token as your goal rather than top 10 finish. Finishing in top 100 usually also means you get the 250 point progression reward so that’s more chances at better covers/ISO.
Once you get a top 50 finish and get a diabolical token, you’re pretty much set. I don’t really aim for higher than that since it’s more about luck to me. If strong people are playing at the time, I have no chance. If they aren’t, it’s quite do-able. Most of the time I’m happy settling for the diabolical token though.
In short, be realistic about your goals and work your way up.
Yes, but if it winds up forcing them to tweak matchmaking to something better (perhaps based on total cover strength? Or average human played cover strength?) then I’m all for that too.
I’ve managed to get brackets with nobody I recognize for the last three tournaments. I’m sure my pseudo strategy on this will fail sometime soon as well (honestly, having NOBODY for three tourneys is more sheer luck than anything IMO), but as long as there are brackets I think it’ll work out reasonably well the majority of the time. I’d expect to see a few high level peeps in every bracket, but that’s better than all of them in one.
how does the game put bagman on your team…does it use your last team used or something? i always wondered how the game sets which character the people are beating me with
awww… I sold off all my Bagman covers. Never thought he’d be useful for anything…
I guess lightning rounds are where he really has a chance to shine… As a (punching)bag man!
I am looking forwards to the lightning rounds the week of Christmas and the week of New Year’s. That said, watch there be no lightning rounds due to the holidays. I’ll finally be off work for these things and they won’t happen.
