Masterpieces

I miss the days when you had a shot a pulling a masterpiece from all packs available. But since the new set came, they can only be pulled via elite packs. I sure hope they become available again from pulling booster/super/premium packs. Or maybe even be craftable in the future. 15k orbs for a masterpiece? I wouldnt mind spending 20k orbs for a chance to get a guaranteed msterpiece. One can only hope..

Legacy MPs only for 15,000 Orbs, ok.
Ways to earn orbs? 250 Runes = 5 Orbs?

Masterpieces don’t exist.

and the cake is a lie.

I got duplicated masterpiece recently… so, whats the deal of spending 400 mana jewels and being so lucky to pull a MP? lol, i ve been trolled. 2.5k orbs is just not going to compensate my frustration

400 mana jewel packs should be MP only. You either pull a new one or you get 2500 orbs no 15% bonus the first month.

120 packs should be raised to 200 and be mythic or rare.

It takes players who aren’t Platinum in top coalitions so long to save the pink stuff. I understand the no re-roll policy, but what really gets me is saving that long and pulling a dupe mythic (which happened to me the other day). It’s ridiculous the way elite packs are set up right now.

Up till now I’d been spending the 120 to go for Rare/Mythic/probably-not-Masterpiece…
Then I decided to save up and try for a masterpiece with 400…
I got one!.. yay…
Why just “yay”?.. Electrolyze… And I was like, um… yeah.. great..

I’m fine with the 120’s even though I DID get a dupe rare, last time. But I kinda wish they would have gone with the same logic as the Boostercrafting where you can’t get something you already have…

(yes, I know my Electrolyze rant was off topic.. sorry.. just had to rant a little  )

I’ve been buying the 120 packs since they took away event rares. Since I’m acquiring cards at a much slower pace, it took me 8 or 9 rolls before I pulled a dupe rare and I managed 2 mythics. I’ve been pretty anti elite pack from the jump because of the ridiculous disparity amongst the elite collection. I’m not going to elaborate too much on my specific feelings about ixalan mps. I’ll just say this. There are 2 that I would be content with and 1 that I actually want. 30% of 25% doesn’t seem like a gamble I’m willing to take. I can easily come up with 120 jewels in a week , so I’ll stick to that. I’m not happy about it , but I haven’t quite hit the point where new cards become a myth. I feel like they could definitely do better than this .

I like this. And what if they could change the daily sign in reward to something like runes/orbs/crystals/pinks/pack. 20+ extra pinks a month would help a lot, for vets and newbies

I pulled so much dupes from 400 pink packs that i can’t remember them all. I even pulled 6 age of revelation in a row (fortunately when reroll policy was still available ) …
Anyway, Since XLN was about to be released and the new card pools were supposed to help us i bought 8 pps … At least 3 of them gave me a dupe (probably 4 actually but i got so used to it i don’t try to remember anymore).
I guess i should have felt like the mayor of valuetown with my amazing 4000 orbs but i actually feel more and more like a cow thats being milked…

Oh well … we get more pinks and a lot of boosters … But … What do we get from them ?

The end of non reroll policy should have come with something to compensate … But nothing has been done so we take the hit.
XLN boosters are given as a reward for each and every event … With droprates divided by 2.5…

There’s a taste of “Let’s give more so they get less” … isn’t it?

I cant even find valuetown on the map and my gps cant find a signal. No way i can be mayor of a place i cant find.

Electrolyze is like exquisite firecraft on crack. EF gets a ton of play in red builds for 6 mana for 6 damage to PW ir creature. Electrolyze can’t target a PW but deals upwards to 8 damage for 7 mana should you choose a creature twice. That’s 1+ damage to the average 1 mana = 1 damage ratio that exists in PQ. That and if you are facing token generation, in many cases the spell is a removal spell rather than a damage spell. Anyways I so wish I had that card. Love it if my Blue collection has a direct damage card.

Your gps is probably too cheap to find it!

Problem with that is that the jewel distribution model is exceptionally(!) top-heavy. Rewards should be far less exponential as a first step. You have the “winners” getting actual hundreds and a proposed MP pack each event whereas the mere “solid” performers in the 25s~50s get tens.

If they keep how long it takes to earn Jewels in-game, then the Elite Packs need to be like booster crafting. A guaranteed non-dupe card.

Of if they want to keep the chance for dupes, I like @bken1234’s Idea of making the 400 jewel pack a MP only, and raising the 120 jewel pack a little and making it Mythic and Rare

The problem with MP only is people in elite coalitions will get all the good cards while the rest of us don’t. You get so few pinks if your not in top 10, heck I thought it was Christmas the one event they screwed up on and gave everyone top prize. So I think this is their way of keeping higher players in check.

Electrolyze was recently buffed. It’s a lot better than it was before.

2 points to keep in mind about what you’re saying here:

  1. The whole idea (as I understand it) behind Mana Jewels was to give top players reasons to keep playing once they acquire all the rare cards and more than a few of the more powerful mythics. By giving them another game currency to chase in an effort to collect those evasive MP’s they’re provided with motivation to, among other things, spend Crystals on TotP to get more Jewels to help move things along. Elite packs, and the chase after MP’s, give us all motivation (in theory) to increase our Mastery level to Platinum so that when we win, if we win, we earn more pinkies. If anything, it gives “higher” players reasons to keep competing and striving to become even “higher”.
  2. Many of the MP’s are actually weak cards. A few are VERY strong but, by and large, mythic cards are more powerful and most of the time there’s a lot of rares in a given set that see a lot more play.

I guess my point is you shouldn’t get discouraged about not having access to as many MP’s, since you really don’t need them to compete. I myself own 2 MP’s. 1 never sees play, and the other I use only in a Standard vampire build (and honestly, it shouldn’t have been made a MP IMHO).

Also maybe worth mentioning that the biggest regular jewel income comes from individual grinding (on AI, TotP) and high individual placement (e.g. 300 jewels for top 5 finish in events like HoD). Neither of those depend on being in a top 10 coalition, though that can certainly add some icing on the cake. Both do however depend on being in a high tier like platinum (which I guess ties in to their purpose of being the end-game currency).
