There’s a cool new interview up on the D3 Go! blog with Marvel Puzzle Quest Producer, Joe Fletcher.
Joe chats about his favorite games, his career path in the industry and reveals favored MPQ strategies. A peek at what on-tap for the game is also mentioned.
You can grab a look RIGHT HERE.
Quote: "Q: What was your path to becoming a game producer? How did you get started?
A: Originally, I wanted to get into game translation and localization. I wanted to be one of those guys at the Nintendo Treehouse who decides which games come over to the US and then helps get it done. So my goal was to learn the language and see where things go from there. So I went to Japan for a few years and went to a language and culture school there. To give an idea, it was 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, all in Japanese from day one. Every 3 months was worth 2.5 years worth of accreditation in a US college for Japanese language."
For those that just wanted to know what he said is in store for the future, he said new character variants of existing characters. So I guess 4 star versions of oldies.
Yay more lazy versions of chars…hard to draw from the other 20k characters? I don’t need a 4th wolverine; however, I do need iso to lvl up the characters I do have. I wouldn’t mind a pause in releases to play catch up lol
Would be nice to see the other way around, from 4* like Carnage or Ant-Man, 3* versions with different ability settings, like xforce and patch. The only 4* I wish for is Spiderman because… well… uh… you know why!
From there, we went through a bunch of story iterations that tied the game down into the larger Marvel Universe, deciding finally to start out in the Dark Reign portion of the mythos. Originally, we were going to run with Infinity Gauntlet…
I would have been better off not knowing that; the Infinity Gauntlet is one of my all-time favorite Marvel events. Now when I play, I’ll be thinking about how cool the game could have been if it had of been based around that instead of Dark Reign.
