Need help please with my roster.

Hi Everyone!

I’m at a point in the game where I need help with my roster building. Some of the guides I find are outdated since there is a lot of hero nerfing about to happen. I’m not sure if I should level up at least two 2* characters right away or If I should develop at least eight teams to level 87 so that I can level them up one by one until they all reach level 94. The latter route might be the slowest route for me to take.

I’m not sure what to do anymore because I’m afraid to level up to 94 for only one character cause it might drive scaling up the wazoo. Will there be a significant change in PVE for scaling if one of my characters is at level 94?

Here is my two star team I’m working on.

OBW- 3/5/5 lvl 87

Wolvie- 3/5/5 lvl 87 so far I rarely get any greens

Ares- 4/4/5 lvl 78

Daken- 4/4/5 lvl 78

Mags- 3/5/5 lvl 78

Thor- 4/4/5 lvl 76 waiting for last yellow

Storm- 3/5/5 lvl 72 waiting for more greens although her yellow maxed has saved me a lot of times in hard nodes sometimes obliterating the whole team if one of the enemies does significant damage to any of my characters.

Ms. Marvel- 4/5/4, waiting for last red

Torch- 4/5/4 lvl 55 waiting for last red

Hawkeye- 2/2/5 lvl 41 I rarely get covers for him

Captain America- 4/2/4 lvl 30 not sure if he’s worth the ISO. He is kinda helpful for cd type nodes.

I have a few three star and 4 star characters I haven’t been focusing on since I think you need at least 10 covers for them to be useable? But some I did work on a few like

Punisher- 4/4/1 lvl 64 obviously I need more red.

Hood- 3/2/1 lvl 57

Falcon- 1/2/0 lvl 53

Luke Cage- 1/1/1 lvl 45

And the rest I won’t mention since I’m missing 1 or two color covers for each.

So wise community, what is the best route I can take? I do versus just for the ISO and drops since I’m not at a level where I can compete, might be a long way before I can. I try to get the featured hero for pve as best as I can. I do DP daily for characters I have and for the tacos.

Also with the new mags nerf coming up I’m not too thrilled to level max him up. I’ve also been alliance jumping since I haven’t found a supportive alliance yet. Maybe I have to build my base team to get support from a good alliance?

You should level up four 2 stars to 94 so you will have plenty of options. Most people would say obw, ares, daken, and thor probably. I really get a lot of use from Wolverine, though he is a less popular choice. I wouldn’t bother with torch. Ms Marvel and Hawkeye are useful but not a priority for most people. Magneto and Storm will still be good after nerfs, just not as good. Captain can be useful against goons, but there is no need to level him up.

You will have an easier time with a few good heroes at 94. It will more than offset any scaling that occurs.
You should be able to find an alliance. Just don’t jump into random ones. Go post in the thread “looking for alliance”.
I would take you if I had a spot open.

Thanks! I’ll concentrate on those three you’ve mentioned for now since I’m getting close to leveling them up appropriately. It’ll be slow since they are all costly to level up at this point. At least there is something to focus on.

The difference between level 87 and 94 is minimal, so don’t worry about differences in scaling from that.

What worked for me in 2* land is having teams. My favorite was always Daken + Wolverine. Start matching reds/greens, Daken’s blue to clear strike tiles, then Wolvie’s green to generate them again. Storm and Magneto pair very well (and I think will continue to after the nerf), and OBW and either Thor or Ares (I always preferred Thor, but Ares is faster if you don’t mind spending health packs on him). So get two or three teams of two characters that work well together and go from there. Ms. Marvel, Torch, Hawkeye, Captain America…honestly you don’t need them.

With 2 or 3 teams you should be able to get to 400 pts every versus event for token and HP reward. With that and your simulator score you should be able to hit the 4k progression for a 10-pack.

With so many new 3* characters and requiring them for DPD you should really only be spending HP on roster slots at this point. Clear out some of those unnecessary 2* characters and make room to start building 3*s.

My three main teams of maxed 2’s are

OBW & Wolverine
Daken & Ares
CStorm & Magneto

I also have Thor to sub in for Wolv/Ares if needed. I’d pick a team and level them up then move on to the next one. Depth is your best asset right now. It’s going to be a while before you can level any 3’s to the point where they are helpful other than that Punisher.

Personally I’d not waste any iso on leveling Hawkeye, Capt America (he was my first 94, what a waste), Ms Marvel or Torch. I fully covered all of them thinking that I’d level them up later when I had extra iso. There is no such thing as “extra iso”. icon_lol.gif

Yeah, you read that right, selling a level 15 character with one cover = 250, selling a level 15 char with 13 covers = 250 iso. All I really did was screw myself out of 3k iso each by not just selling the covers as I got them instead of keeping them all. But if you’re a “gotta have em all” type, then build away.

Also, there’s no reason to wait to look for a better alliance. For all but the most competitive alliances, it’s more about putting in consistent effort than being the top scorer. Just post in the alliance thread and be honest about what your average scores are, someone will pick you up. Good luck.

Wow thanks so much! What a difference it will make once I get a team of 2* lvl 94. No wonder why a lot of people are in a rush to max out as soon as possible for the 2*. Yes stormneto was my fave but, I think I can work with Daken/Ares/OBW/Thor. These are definitely first to max out and the rest will follow.

Yeah I kept Ms Marvel and leveled her up decently cause I don’t have a lot of Loki or Devil covers at this point. I’ll probably get rid of her once I can replace her with characters like Loki who can deal with getting rid of those pesky protect tiles and traps. Although the 3* Ms Marvel does look more appealing to me with her ability to suck energy with her black cover as well as Steve Rogers instead of the 2* Cap America.

Based on your input I might take advantage of the sale for gold so that I can use it for roster slots. Thanks again. It makes me look forward to what comes in this game.

Wow thanks for this! At least now it’s confirmed not to waste ISO on certain characters. Yeah, I’m not confident yet with my roster, but maybe I’ll try to get the courage to post in the alliance search thread. Thanks for sharing your valuable input, as it will save me time not to waste ISO and concentrate on building a better roster. Yeah I would definitely hate to sell a maxed out Ms Marvel for cheap, especially the amount of work that goes into getting ISO.

I wouldn’t call leveling any of those characters a bad decision, it depends on how you play the game. If you’re trying to get top scores in PVE then depth is definitely important and Human Torch, Cap, and Ms. Marvel all get buffed a lot in PVE. I also have a lot of love for Hawkeye, since his speed shot has gotten me through several overscaled enemies. Torch is squishy, but quick, and can deal a lot of punishment in a hurry. Cap is mediocre, but you can throw him into any goon node to tank for you and overwrite CD tiles which comes in handy.

I never took on Ms. Marvel so I can’t comment much on her, but I have the other 3 leveled and I don’t regret it at all when grinding out PVE’s because healthpacks cost HP and having that extra depth allows me to run much longer (plus go get more iso in other events).

If you’re more of a casual player though and don’t find yourself running out of healthpacks before you’re ready to quit, not leveling them may be the best route for you.

I am in the transition phase towards 3* land, and I think the following 2* characters were most frequently used:

Storm & Magneto - should still be somewhat useful after the nerf. This is my go to team in most PVE events and teamed with Thor is what I use to finish Big Enchilada.

Daken & Wolverine - their healing comes in really handy for playing against weaker teams in PVP. I can usually go straight from 0-300 points in PVP events just using these 2. Daken rarely gets significantly hurt. When Wolvie gets really hurt, I will play the first story event against those 2 level 1 snipers to heal.

OBW & Ares - my preferred team in PVP due to how quickly Ares can charge up his skills. He is a bit more fragile than Thor, but I ended up just maxing a second Ares. Not necessarily saying you should do that same, but I just really liked him and used him that often where I needed him before health packs fully regenerated.

I also maxed Hawkeye because as previously mentioned, his Speed Shot can sometimes be a life saver in PVE.
