New Character - Boomerang (Frederick Myers) 4*

That is indeed.

Interesting (?): The rules of copyright are that a corporation has ownership of a character (or rather that specific version of) for 95 years from first publish etc. But if it’s owned by a person solely it extends for the life of the creator plus 70 years.

Cardiac was co-created by David Michelinie and Erik Larson in 1991 so the copyright ends in 2086. But if Erik Larsen lives say another another 20 years (he’s 63 now) the Savage Dragon copyright will remain with his family/trust until 2116. Savage Dragon 1 was published in 1993.

I dunno, this is just kind of interesting to me.

I still just get strong MegaMan vibes from this guy’s costume.

lol it does give off megaman x5’s dynamo vibes

I’m a bit impressed at how consistently a new character’s test drive in ‘Welcome to SHIELD’ seems to show off exactly how unimpressive they are. You’d think that a new team would maybe want to try to shake things up, and give this guy a worthy opponent to highlight his skill set, but apparently not.
This fella is as lightweight as a rice cake, and Ms. Parker over there can just dodge his puny damage all day. Because somehow enduring multiple humiliating defeats with this chump is supposed to motivate me into adding him to my roster more quickly? Color me skeptical.
If this were something unusual, I might actually be upset about it, but I almost found it comforting to experience something so familiar after all the changes that have come down the pipe lately. Viva nostalgia!

I managed to win second time but Boomerang is certainly as bad as a man who throws curved pointy sticks for a living can be. I won using a team up so that probably says something as Boomerang otherwise slowly threw his mighty stick of mediocrity at a bored looking May who dodged with ease.

And yes, why not use literally any of the 5 or 6 Spider-Man versions in the game for this?!?!? I’m starting to have a theory that the Devs are so ashamed of how bad 5* Spidey is that they have tried to wipe him from their memory.

Still look on the bright side - 5* Scorpion Vs Boomerang - what a battle of unparalleled rubbish that promises to be!

I haven’t seen the movie yet but I am guessing they missed out on having this prime time match up:

Edit - it just occurred to me - does this mean Boomerang’s boomerangs can’t deflect Hulk punch?!?!? Have we found his only weakness?!?!?

The only think I discovered from playing Day 1 is that his passive doesn’t quite work as I expected.

I read it as it was going to reduce the damage to 40% (blocked by the boomerang). But it seems that it’s reflecting that amount of damage back on whomever fires the power. I used 4 Carol against him in the 1v1 node and when her Black expired it downed him but she took 10K damage as a ‘cheap retal’ again my character.

That means it’s like Man Thing and his damage reflection only this one is just on powers (juggersam, so he plus Man Thing might end juggersam reign). So it’s another annoying character to fight as its only purpose is of course to drain health packs from players.

He’s great and I’ll be ascending him ASAP!

I hope they put him (and Man-Thing) in PvE when they start updating those fights and creating new events.

Now the question is how does flying at supersonic speed into a rock doesn’t kill a washed up pitcher

I found the same. He has 5 covers on his black so he makes 2 protect tiles, takes the full ability damage and the attacker also takes 40% of that damage. Definitely not how the power is described, and also suggests the less black covers you have the better the power, ie. at 1 cover the attacker will take 75% of the ability damage, so presumably not working as intended.

His Boomerang absorbed the impact!

Yeah, ‘deflect’ does not mean you still take the full attack damage, in any version of English

Oh well, let’s hope they sort this out at the same point they get around to fixing Scorpion

They fixed scorpion good, as in, chopped off any balls he might’ve had.

Regardless of the obvious wordplay with boomerangs in the Razerangs ability name, that’s not how you spell razor-edged..

From a canon/“realism” standpoint, him taking full dmg and throwing a boomerang as he does, and it coming around and bopping the attacker makes more sense than “deflecting” dmg by throwing a curved projectile.

I’m with EB on this one. He is going to be annoying AF in PvP (I’m thinking) even when not boosted.

It’s very easy to predict what’s going to happen when he and ManThing are everywhere in PvP. You can’t touch ManThing at all without eating retal damage and you can only do match damage vs Boomerang. Going to have to delicately match damage Boomerang to death first and then try and do one or 2 massive hits to ManThing to down him.

Players are absolutely going to hate this defensive meta that is inevitable.

In a pick 3, would Purple Man be the third? Or IH? Maybe someone else? What would make it the most annoying team in a long time?

Maybe they set stuff on fire?

I don’t think so. Boomerang is already giving you good protection against power damage, so Purple Man probably isn’t necessary (although pairing him with Man-Thing generally will be a pretty great plan).

I’d either look for somebody who can shut down match damage (Colossus maybe, 4:star: Juggernaut, or 3:star: Cage if he’s high level for you) or a resurrector who has to be killed last (Hulk, She Hulk, Jubilee).

You could also just bring the most powerful offensive 3rd you can find, because I think defense will mostly be covered by this team. They are vulnerable to stuns now that Cart is fixed, so I’d expect to get beaten by Chasm.
