You know they love their Peggy Carter. I’d wager that if the 6* is an Ultron/What-If it’s going to be Infinite Peggy
This might be the first - correction, third character in MPQ who has the unique ability to return from Airborne manually. Most characters with Airborne must tough it out, but like 5-stars Vulture and Falcon, Firebird can be brought back to active using her Red power.
Scenario 1: Start with Absorbing Rays (8 Yellow AP), beginning her ascent to Airborne status. If you have at least one ally remaining in the fight, you can bring her back using Shooting Star (7 Red AP).
Scenario 2: If Firebird gets forcefully sent Airborne by an enemy attack and you have an ally still on ground, just spend 7 Red AP to bring her back.
Scenario 3: Certain characters can cause an Airborne benefit: 3-star Colossus’s Fastball Special, 4-star Gwenpool’s Plot Armor, 5-star Captain Marvel’s Got Your Six. What happens when you use her Red power while Airborne caused by these moves…
In essence, Firebird is meant to be a counter against the Airborne effect, let alone abuse the Airborne system. Take a 5-star She-Hulk’s As Above ability, dealing damage in two parts - first to trigger Airborne, then upon returning from Airborne, which is 5% of maximum health as damage. Use the Red power to get her out of Airborne even while knowing she will take the return recoil, and perhaps lessen the damage out of her post-Airborne Yellow powers.
Hmm, I’m now thinking the Airborne system might have to be revised. There is potential for post-Airborne effects to be negated if the user has Airborne-special features. If a player used Firebird’s Red powers to get out of 5-star She-Hulk’s Forced Airborne, she should not suffer the return recoil damage.
Airborne is such a… Useless power. Not since 4vulture has it been powerful enough to make someone unusable for x number is turns. Going Airborne to fortify 1 tile, then minimal heal is insulting. That’s a deterrent for being unavailable for two turns.
Wonder is her board colour manipulation still works when she’s airborne but I bet we’ll never know.
How dare you! Useless?
Just think how great an ascended Firebird will be against all those Juggerduck teams. He sends her airborne, she uses red and comes back and singes his feathers! Slightly!
Vulture (armor wars) has green “plummet” skill
Torres Falcon has red which returns you from airborne if fired while airborne
I have a question about that Blue Passive based on the wording.
Lets assume the percentages are 15/15/15/15/15/15/10 (15 in 6 colors + 10 in TU) based on fact we know colors fall more often than TU.
Reducing enemy percentage seems straight forward. At 5 covers its 25% and if it was say Red, then Red would be reduced from 15% to (15x.75) = 11.25 and presumably the other 5 would be equally increased by .625 each (3.75/6) to 15.625 for colors and 10.625 for TU.
Where I am confused is how it works for you. At 5 covers it’s 35%. Does it work like:
35% chance of strongest. Else the remaining 65% is divided equally among all colors (including the strongest) so that those 15/15…/10 would be 9.75 (15x.65)… 6.5(10x.65) and in the end the strongest would be 35+9.75=44.75
The strongest color is set to 35% and the remaining colors are reduced equally (based was 15, now 35 so 20% removed from 6 others equally is 3.33 less or 15-3.33=11.66 or 10-3.33=6.66.
I assume it’s case 1 but wanted to ask because if it’s case 2, then at 1 cover the chance is 15% which is what the color chance is anyway which means at 1 cover there is no real affect.
In the end I realize this is trivial since the character isn’t very good and its only for semantic reasons I ask how it works.
KGB
Coincidence that the Australian male is S tier and the Hispanic female is bottom tier?
Wow you think scorpion’s as “good” as those other guys?
Just to double check as I’ve lost track, if my 3* Wanda is ascended …do I get zero shards towards Firebird because she’s on the ascended track now?
No, that’s what retro refers to.
In the original first West Coast Avengers series ( not the mini series) there is a sub plot about Hawkeye being obsessed with getting a sixth member (little does he know that those rules no longer apply). During this period the team encounters Firebird who is desperate to join and The Thing who is reluctant. Hawkeye wants The Thing so basically ignored Firebird. At the time we thought “Ah poor Firebird!” but now we know why. Listen to Hawkeye.
So, West Coast (Avengers) doesn’t look like an affiliation that is in game yet. Anyone mind compiling a run down of who should be in that affiliation?
Off top of my head:
Iron Man (Stark - Rhodey)
Hawkeye
Mockingbird
Moon Knight
Vision
Scarlet Witch
Human Torch (Jim Hammond)
The Thing (agreed to join but didn’t)
Firebird
Wasp
Not in game:
Tigra
Wonder Man
Hank Pym
USAgent
Spider Woman (Julia Carpenter)
You misspelled “fifth”.![]()
3 star Vulture can also do this. 5 star Sam can also do this.
What might be unique, as far as I can see, is that this seems to be the first time that a character actively wants, by design, to land as soon as possible after sending themselves airborne. Both Vultures and both Falcons that do this have incentives to remain airborne so there’s a tradeoff to evaluate. Firebird gains nothing from remaining airborne so you will always want her to land ASAP.
The affiliation exists in game.
It seems there might be some other characters who were on a newer version of the WCA I haven’t read so you can probably add:
Kate Bishop
America Chavez
Gwenpool and apparently
Jeff
I accidentally had a second filter criteria active without realising it. My bad.
[On a positive note, none of my West Coast Avengers currently need ISO]
The West Coast affiliation is largely pointless because nearly all of them have been on the Avengers (East Coast) roster too at some point.
Serves to accentuate the lack of Great Lakes Avengers in game though. ![]()
