Firebird (Bonita Juarez) heats up the gem board as the latest 4-Star character to enter MPQ. From her fiery origins in the New Mexico desert to her time alongside the West Coast Avengers, Bonita brings a unique kit that radiates when things get too hot to handle.
Firebird unleashes an awesome burst of fire, engulfing her enemies. Deal 1505 damage to the target. If Airborne, deal 1188 damage and return from Airborne.
(PASSIVE) Heal Firebird for 396 health every time they are damaged by an enemy’s Red ability.
So, you can spend 9 blue for 760 in protect tiles… OR you can take Boomerang, who just for being there will create a minimum of 5,000 in protect tiles (usually way more for team or multihit) AND he will block 60% of the damage also for free.
Yellow - Multiple things we don’t want or care about, and since there are multiple they’re all done EVEN MORE BADLY. Too much airborne lately and it’s all done badly. Fortifying 1 tile? That’s crap, and it’s random? Super crap. Ok it fortifies 3 at max level that’s a little better, but the power is also expensive. Team heal (burst?) is pretty lackluster and weak, and also expensive.
Changes - I’d ditch the airborne and keep the fortifying aspect. Have her team heal when a fortified tile is matched. Drop the cost down to 6 or 7
Blue - I like the fiddling with strongest color drop rate, that’s pretty neat. The protect tile stuff is just bad though. 9 AP for a few protects?
Changes - Might as well just remove the active part of the power and just leave the passive. Then use that “loss” (of a horrible active) to make the other 2 powers better. Can maybe even bring up the % on the enemy’s turn to be 35% as well.
Red - Wow this is pretty bad too. What’s with all the airborne? Damage seems low, needs another power to do (probably bad) extra damage. I get the theme of the passive but it’s hilariously weak.
Changes - Active…just make it better damage, and maybe aoe damage if airborne. Though I’d like it if all the airborne in this character just went away. Just because someone flies doesn’t mean they need to have 50 interactions with airborne. Clearly you wanted fire to be her thing.
Passive - If you really want to go into the theme, just make her healed by red ability damage. So instead of taking damage she’s flat-out healed. It’d be a strong, unique power, but also very limited and easy to get around because you could just…NOT use red powers on her lol. And if someone were using spider-man with power stone and he punch-healed her, oh well!
What’s her link with Scarlet Witch as a feeder? I don’t remember her and Wanda being on the West coast team together? 3* Hawkeye would have made more sense.
The streak of sub mediocrity continues. All three of the active powers look underwhelming. The only interest is in the passive blue. IP2’s character budget is so stingy. Code is free, adjustments are easy . If adjustments can be urgently made to OP characters, devs should use that urgency also rescue banal, weak announcements like this. Read the room devs. As of now Firebird is just another fart in the wind (Banshee, Shatterstar, Scorpion)
Generally, or at least following their past recent releases, yes.
But then they’d be releasing a 4 in 4 weeks during Anniversary, and you’d assume they want a 6 released then.
Who knows if they can release more than 2 characters during Anniversary but the fact is 6s probably get more spending than 4s by far, so switching to release the 6 when people are in spending mode makes business sense.
But it’ll probably be the one from the poll a few years ago.

Character wise, meh. Looks like to work effectively, you’ll want to fire yellow and then red if you’re trying to get some quick healing for the team at the trade-off of a large amount of damage. Otherwise, there’s no reason to fire the red while airborne.
The passive is nice to help the board a bit but the rest of the kit is not nearly interesting or strong enough to bring her into battle for the fun of it. Curious how her powers would interact with Domino’s if black was the strongest color for puzzle gauntlets but as @bluewolf said, it’s an incredibly small niche.
She is certainly Famine levels of “this character exists”
D.O.A you gotta stop putting mediocre characters like this one out. this character need to go back to the drawing board. People will eventually will stop investing in the game when putting out characters likes this out wither it’s a 4 or 5 star character.
