“Based on his recent usage stats, we have decided to rebalance him to bring him more in line with Famine. He was used 100% more than any other character since his release and it’s totally unrelated to his PVP. And no, the stats don’t differentiate between loaner and owned characters”
I just got enough shards to add an extra cover and I genuinely spent about 20 minutes reading each one without being able to work out which one to increase, they are all so bad. I chose green in the end but I could have just as well chosen orange or brown for all the effect it will have.
I did the usual when characters are useless aka ran my two man teams and ignored him unless I had no use for the AP I happened to gather, so I’d let him feel special for a minute and do something.
Yes, they’ve retouched up char art in the past. I don’t think its a technical issue (with respect to implementation). But there is probably a long licensing / approval process on char art. They also need the art to be “costume ready” i.e. is the pose generic enough that costume overlays look acceptable, etc…
They’ve never changed creepy Bobby or jailbait Jean, so I wouldn’t expect anything beyond a minor update if even that.
5 Scorpion is REALLY weak. Like…. He’s weak like an unascended 4* that hasn’t reached level 300 yet.
My Scorpion is at champed lvl 452, 5/4/4. But there’s really no point because he doesn’t do damage and he seems to be intended to do damage. It’s mandatory that he be used with an enhancer. Prowler, Okoye, Apoc etc…….. his damage needs enhancing REALLY badly. He’s been “powered up” since release and it’s STILL pathetically weak.
want a laugh? My championed scorpion’s damage at lvl 452…..
black (costs 9 btw) does 6145 damage, adds a 1348 attack tile and does 411 AOE permanent damage if you match/destroy its CD.
Purple deals 1111 damage.
Green does 4798 damage.
It is pathetic. And I’m being nice when I say that. I can’t really gather how to make this character worth using at all because his damage is so low. Yeah, he gains AP when he destroys stuff. But he can’t take advantage of it.
His green is just…… like come on man. You gain some AP if you kill a character. That’s great right? Except the hit is RANDOM. Thus forcing you to either kill one (or two) of the characters or get them all simultaneously into Scorpion’s final hit zone to take advantage of its other condition. But the damage is so LAUGHABLY LOW that you can’t help but ask “why bother?” and just do a match 4. Or!….. use another character.
That’s where I’m at with this character. I’m really trying to find the light here and be positive. But he hits like an unascended 3 star. He’s been boosted for almost a month and he still hits like a newborn baby. Been using him with 4As5 prowler/5 carnage. And scorpion might as well not even be there without prowler’s strikes.
I got nothing. Do any of you guys have something I’m missing here?
The fact that the devs doubled down with “yes, Scorpion is released and acting exactly as we intended him to” tells you all you need to know about the state of the game and the direction they want to take it.
Scorpion doesn’t make a good 3 star, let alone a 5.
This has got to be the most useless character since Totally Awesome Hulk before his rework. And judging by the release of the subsequent character releases, seems like this will be a trend going forward, been playing for about 12 years, and this might just get me to finally stop playing the game…
But then the very next character was Boomerang, who’s way overtuned. He’s got that crazy defensive passive but his offense is really strong too. I guess we’ll see if he gets much weaker as a 5.
So I don’t know that there’s a pattern of weak releases, as much as there’s a pattern of random releases. I wonder if they’ve got two different character designers working off two different “power budget” spreadsheets, or something silly like that.
