ob nixilus destroys creature with prevent damage

I used enshrouding mist(prevent damage) on my lone rider,
only to have ob nixilus kill it using his 2nd ability ~‘lose 5
health and destroy target creature’.

the wording on prevent damage is kind of weird. as it does
manage to protect from deathtouch.

Prevent Damage: Cards with Prevent Damage cannot receive damage through spells and abilities. Their Toughness can still be reduced through Toughness reducing abilities.

is the above correct?

Prevent damage is not equal to immune to death.
Any effect that destroys a creature do work even on creature immune to damage. So it works on prevent damage too.
Not a bug.

P.s. Some time ago prevent damage used to give immunity to destroy but was a bug and was fixed.
