Hi Octagon,
Are there plans to ever run other legacy coalition events? We’ve been on a steady diet of AM and RotGP or HoD for quite sometime.
What happened to Dragon War, Battle of 4 Tribes, A World Reborn? Are they so broken now that they won’t be in circulation ever again? I won’t mention Elderspark or Great Tournament
If there are getting fixed and will come back in near/far future I’d like to know.
Problem is that most/all of the good old coalition events have been reformatted to not be coalition events anymore (Terrors, Emrakul, the Kaladesh PvEs…ect). Also a lot of legacy events require specific mechanics from specific sets, which make them prohibitive to newer players. Oktagon may be trying to avoid running a coalition event that all players can’t effectively participate in. Or they might just be trying to eliminate coalition play. Who knows.
I’m also for more variety. There are 12 different legacy events, of which we see 2 nowadays. The last that wasn’t AM or RotGP was RtO back in June 2020. Are all other 10 legacy events broken beyond repair?
If the mechanics are the issue, that’s only valid for TGT (standard) and Elderspark (legacy by now, only played 3 or 4 times total since its introduction). All other legacy events have creature or support type restrictions at best, but those all still exist in standard.
Standard has TGT, which we never see anymore. But standard events are ok to be restricted in mechanics right? The other 4 standard events are the 2-node events, which make up almost 75% of the total events we play since rotation. It’s the new RaW, which I deliberately didn’t count as legacy events.
I don’t even remember the rewards, but I definitely remember how much fun it was from a structural perspective. The mix of decks were a blast to play against.
Rewards in general are sooooo bad in the game right now that I stop looking forward to them a ling time ago. Seize The Day and The Colossal Tussle are the only 2 events where rewards really do mean something. Other than that I think anyone would be lying if they say that they play an event because of the good rewards.
80 crystals, 16 jewels and a chance for up to 30 more jewels in a 250-person pod, so you can miss an objective or two without dropping to 100th instantaneously.
Each of the four nodes has interesting objectives. You have to walk a fun and interesting line between creating a powerful deck and one that meets the objectives. And people will bring a variety of decks that have degrees of difficulty.
*Step one of fixing a problem is admitting one even exists, and the support team stubbornly insists that there are zero problems with the recharge timers. It’s baffling.
True! I never play past progression on that one because of the recharge time. I’ve completed all my charges before and still get so so rewards because I joined too late so I learned my lesson
