I’ve seen many posts asking for BP to be run again so those who lost out on RE because of a messy, buggy update can have another crack at it. This is an absolutely horrible idea – see the case study below:
Setting: August or September (or both) 2016, Saheeli’s Challenge – coalition event, prize: pre-nerf, awesome Saheeli
What happened: Bugs, etc caused many people to lose out on Saheeli and the event was re-run. The issue is that it’s a coalition event, so the people who already had her played just as hard as they did the first time as to not let their coalitions down. This basically resulted in a lot of people getting her twice – and most of us missing out on her by one or two spots. (I missed her the first time because of two freezes and the second time by -1 – the leaderboard in my bracket was exactly the same as the first time)
Breaking Points is also a coalition event, especially in top coalitions, the people who already earned RE are not going to play down to make sure other people get him, they’d be letting their team down – so basically we are just going to end up with a lot of the same people getting dupes of RE and a lot of the same people walking away with nothing.
One solution would be to re-run it as an individual event – but still-- especially in Platinum – competitive players are going to go all in because they like this game and there’s going to be crystals and unobtanium on the line.
A better solution – which has been proposed many times on this forum is to change the way exclusive cards and individual rewards are given out in events. As I’ve seen it suggested and I highly support, individual rewards should not be based on rank – and let’s all agree – tiebreakers have always and will always be a problem – rather on max score. So 95-100% of total points would get X card X unobtainium and X crystals, the next step would be a KLD Rare, X unobtainium and X crystals, and so on.
It’s a fair and equitable way to distribute rewards, it gives mid-level and newer players the opportunity to advance faster and more of an incentive to participate in coalition play (which is a huge advantage for them and a great factor in retention) and it restores some of the faith by top players (some who have spent THOUSANDS on this game) who you have pretty much stomped all over and beat to tinykitty.
But I’m sure you’ll just run it again because this is the most in-the-box dev team I’ve ever met so congrats in advance to @shteev , @ridfrenzy and all others on your SECOND RE.
