The devs have insisted all of the recent changes are going to be “fun”.
I have a simple question for those on the forum, are you having “fun” yet?
I said “yes” because it’s not march 23rd yet. Please run this same poll on march 24th.
I’m not not having fun. Yet.
I asked myself, “If I weren’t having fun would I still be playing the game?” Answer: No. I guess that means I’m having fun.
Henry, is that you? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoIZWzCzWXg
I don’t consider fighting Moonstone, Venom, etc… for the billionth time, fun.
Why are there only two options? ![]()
To be fair, it wasn’t fun even when it was the thousandth time.
It’s the wrong question. I had enough fun to keep playing, but not enough fun to buy HP on sale.
Have I been having fun in game? - Yes, and will continue to do so even after 3/23.
Am I having fun on the boards? - Not as much as I used to before the Forum exploded. Hoping that the fun will return once the dust settles. (Too many “ERMEGURD, NERF!” threads.)
Of course.
I have a significant Steam backlog of games that don’t see the light of day because I choose to play this over them. When I stop having fun with a game I move on to another one. Free time is too valuable to waste on something you don’t enjoy.
Doesn’t mean I agree with every change that’s been made recently or since the game launched. But this game is still legitimately fun and I have to admit I’m genuinely intrigued to see how the meta shifts (assuming it changes at all) in PvE and PvP next month.
Yes, but not down to what the devs have done. Unless their aim was to get me to not bother with pve. I now pick and choose the events I want to do on that, and mostly play pvp. If I were not having fun, I wouldn’t be playing the game.
Having gone from full-time obsessed to not playing the PVE at all, I would say, in the words of The Stooges, “No fun, my babe, no fun.”
What ruined this for me was the rapid-fire attack of, “Professor X announced; he’s awesome, but you can’t have him; your best character is being nerfed; here’s a second PVE in a row that’s not worth playing.”
I’m doing DPD right now. I’ll do PVP when there’s something to win. I had all this ambition to make my characters better, but now I’m worried about whether all the progress will mean anything the next time the devs decide to nerf something.
You know, to nerf something that isn’t broken instead of fixing characters who have never worked.
Gamora’s black would be amazing at half the cost and half the strength. And as Jimmy McMillan said, the number of characters who make you ask, “Is this some kind of joke?” is, “TOO DAMN HIGH!”
Elektra’s final stats cannot be right. She-Hulk’s abilities are a mistake, right? Was Invisible Woman released accidentally? That can’t be Beast’s actual skill set, can it?
So I’m just sitting here, saving up enough HP to finish my X-Force, and it occurs to me I might accomplish that goal just in time for them to realize he’s not a fair and balanced character (he’s a wolverine, not a fox). Am I going to lose my best character just after raising him to level 270, having spent 15000 HP on him? All signs point to yes.
I’d have a lot more fun with this game if all the characters were fun to play, and I’d really like to know that the characters I’ve built up will stay built up. Spider-Man is a graveyard unto himself, and I don’t need more added to him.
It’s a match-3 game with Marvel heroes. I’m still having fun. I’m a pretty easy-going guy. I like it. I’ll like the game after 3/23.
What I’m not enjoying is all the complaining. I’ve been on the forums a lot less since the announcement because it’s so negative here. I kind of understand the feelings, but I think it’s blown out of proportion. I think the devs and producers have access to a lot of information that we don’t have and it affects their decisions. I think the large base of players don’t play the same way forum users play and that is the basis for most of their decisions.
DDQ is fun. Helping alliance mates is fun. Winning stuff is fun. Playing match-3 is fun. New PVE content is fun. Figuring out new char combos is fun.
Two things I don’t enjoy in this game: playing Dark Avengers over and over and kicking/recruiting on the last day of an event.
I’ve given up getting 4*'s (i.e. I’m going free to play), I enjoy LR’s and DPD, getting top 100 in PVP’s and completely skipping all non 3* PVE’s.
So yeah, I’m having “fun” - but I’m also not playing the game the devs probably intend you to play.
Pretty much this for me.
The ‘only’ thing not really fun right now in game is PvE. I don’t mind efforting a sub here and there just for the HP, but competing for 1st is an exercise in insanity. The same 10 PvE boards with the same 10 nodes repeated for a week is mind-numbing.
Gauntlet was a breath of fresh air. Competitive Gauntlet was even at least a new twist. DDQ is my favorite 20 minutes every day. Even if I don’t need the cover, the .3% chance of 1000HP is fun. More of this would be really nice.
The balance changes would have caused far less of an outcry if the devs had done it in a timely manner in the past. Which they should have.
The upset is being caused by misaligned expectations. The devs should be willing to buff and nerf quickly, and should do so. Our expectations should be set accordingly.
I’d be interested in knowing what game the devs intend you to play. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around everything that’s happened in the last week or so and I’m just confused.
4* characters are a massive investment vs. 3* characters (covers cost 2x, iso to max level nearly 3x). I have enough ISO saved to soft cap my remaining 3* or to bring 2-3 of my non-XF/GT 4* into a usable realm of ~200+, but I’m not sure that I should. They are rarely featured past their initial release and most, nay all of them save XF are barely more effective than some 3*. Not too mention that I’m short a few covers on starlord and elektra still anyway. And why should I consider buying them if 1) I can’t make the ISO investment or 2) they are not worth it already or 3) I fear they could get nerfed if they are worth the investment and completely invalidate my expenditure (time or money).
I’m sure I’ll figure it out eventually, but right now I’m lost. At least I still enjoy the core mechanic.
