I figure I will just go for some progression, see if I can hit the new Venom cover and call it a day - maybe even go for the CP if it looks likely. Definitely not an event I enjoy grinding for top 10 in.

I had one go and decided to leave it at that. I ran peggy with 5 yellow and Ice still bent me over. I won but took a heap of damage. I will just go for the easy 4* progression and wait for something else.

I’ve got 3 clears and hitting a wall. I tried Teen Jean but she’s too low level to be effective. I teamed her with Thing hoping he’d shield her but no luck. Storm’s damage is both too weak and far too strong round by round. I think I need some usable 5*s that can’t be stunned.

So far Agent Venom’s sole use has been to eat Iceman’s stuns in that node. As an alliance mate called it, Agent Fodder.

It would depend on your roster. Judging from your 6 health packs being used, I’m guessing you’re not in 4* land yet, so start with IM40 and let his recharge guide your partner. Preferably C. Mags since his red and blue are both good with board shake. Your first order of business is to deny blue while you whittle down Iceman anyway, so that blue will feed him. That along with recharge, should give you enough to do some damage. 3* Cyclops (who’s boosted) is also good, just switch IM40 to 3/5/5 if he’s champed so the blue isn’t going to waste. Daredevil might be a darkhorse pick here: He can stun, and turn any special tiles (like from Mohawk’s Hailstorm) into a lot of damage. His red is less valuable as none of those characters need red so they won’t match for optimal damage.

In 2* land, maybe Original Black widow? Stealing that blue from Iceman constantly might help, but its going to be tough (but then again the 4* essential node is supposed to be tough for 2*’s.)

Well, I’m done with that. The guy I would normally use to deal with a trash node like that is in the node.

Venom is too useless with one cover to be anything but a punching bag, and I can’t make enough of a functioning duo with anything else I have. I tried 3* Cyclops and 2* Black Widow (to suck up purple and blue; Useless Venom still matched black), and it worked, once, more by accident than anything. I can’t build a reliable strategy though; all it takes is one bad cascade to inevitably lose.

So that’s fun, I guess?

4Clops (champ), Quicksilver (champ) at 3/5/5, and Agent (fodder) Venom with 2 yellow covers worked for me. Cost me one or two health packs. Killed Iceman first, SWitch 2nd.

Kept Venom out front whenever possible. QS worked good since Iceman kept making blue - it does take away from 4Clops Red, but his blue is still good damage, and the AoE from QS and cheaper green adds up.

Ran into a not-so-fun bug in the final node vs Moon Knight. My team was Thing, Jean Grey and Scarlet Witch. Moon Knight got 12 green in about seven turns, so he did his Moonsilver Blades for 12K damage. The random person he chose was Jean Grey, who was in the middle position. Thing was in front already, and his Rock Solid didn’t trigger. Net result - Jean eats 12K to the face, and I get no Protect Tiles out of the deal.

I’ve already reported this one to the devs.

Does anyone have any advice as to where one should be at point wise after the first and second subs if all they care about is the 4 star progression cover?

I would like to earn it with a minimum effort and without having to grind the last sub.

Quickest route to the 4 star progression reward would be to do all 6 clears in the first node, then you should hit that Venom cover before you finish the 4 clears (for each node) in the 2nd node. That’s how and when I got that black cover reward (of all the colors for him… jeez).

You could do just 4 clears on each node each day but you’ll very likely be in the 3rd sub when you hit that progression then. If you just want to be done with it, see above - more work up front, but you’ll be done with it quicker. I wouldn’t blame you for skipping the 3rd sub entirely this holiday, here’s the hard nodes for that final sub:

4* Venom essential: Fury/Kingpin/Red Hulk

Sim 7 (the 3500 iso non-repeatable node): 4* Cage/3* Strange/Moon Knight (and they’re bringing a whales TU with them!)

Sim 6: Quake/Iceman/X-pool (the real brutal one, even a boosted JG champ is no good in there.)

I got the 1cp reward in every node that had it. Key was running Hulk with Patch. It went pretty fast once patch’s green was out. It costs a lot of health but patch and hulk are fast healers so it takes half the time to fully heal. I added red hulk for the non essential node that gave cp. Anger and rulk’s red does very little damage but it is quite considerable when you add patch’s green strike tiles into the equation. Also the crazy cascades that results from the board shakes that do over 1000 damage each. It’s better than risking a ton of wipes with other characters
