3 Summary:*
Level 119 is your key breakpoint for a 3* character.
Level 40-120 will save you a LOT of ISO relative to the old system. This is probably the point where you should level characters you are less interested in so they can still be decent as a featured character. Level 120-Level 166 will save you very little ISO relative to their prior costs (probably less than a single days worth of DDQ ISO).
4 Summary:*
Level 170 is the point where level costs really start to climb. It’ll still be cheap relative to a 3* leveling cost but they rise fast. By level 201 and on things feel identical to the old leveling system.
Leveling observations
The ISO cost to level max a * or ** character appears to be identical (18,720 for Yelena and 69,530 for ** Torch)
*** Leveling details
Level 40 = 26xp
Slow climb till level 63 where it jumped to 137xp. Many levels will remain at the same XP amount. For example over five consecutive levels needed exactly 210xp to level gain
Level costs gradually climb by amounts of 5-20 xp up until level 120. - Level 120 costs 620xp. Level 121 costs 1018xp.
From here levels jump quickly, as much as 100-300 ISO level increases every few of levels. (level 126 costs 1730xp, level 133 costs 1990xp).
**** Leveling details
Total Cost from level 70 to 270 is now 365,824 ISO
Level 70 to Level 229 is only 212,511 ISO
Level 70 costs only 47xp to level up
Very slow xp climb with gradual level jumps from 5-20xp range as you go. Level 100 only costs 381xp.
From here you’ll see more substantial jumps in around the 60-120 range up to 170. To compare above level 133 costs only 802xp vs the *** level cost of 1990xp for the same level. - Level 171 to Level 172 jumps leveling costs from around 1250xp to 1420xp. This spike in leveling costs continues every 2-3 level until level 201.
From level 201 on the cost of level increases essentially stabilize and feel almost identical to the old 4* leveling costs all the way up to level 270
I apologize but I didn’t have the time to track the level increase at every single level and post it in a nice happy spreadsheet for you all but this should answer a lot of general concerns regarding the leveling changes.
Good stuff, OP. I’ve got too many fully covered characters to level up, and still limited amount of iso on hand. your break point analysis is just what I needed to make a decision.
Awesome, thanks DP for no refunds I guess. Glad you totally hosed anyone with even leveling. Let’s take a look-see at my 3*'s:
6x 166
1x 153
12x 140
15 x 127
1x 117
1x 114
1x 102
1x 87 (SW, 114 possible but ran out of ISO).
[11 x 94 2*]
I’ve been making all of my 3*'s “usable” as essentials, rather than maxing characters first. Nice of you to cost me so much ISO; I should calculate it out.
With this update they should have added the “de-level” button, and let everyone re-level as they wanted to. Then this wouldn’t have hurt anyone!
wow. this is great news for my roster. I literally have 25 ***s under level 50 with 18 at level 40 and many of those can immediately go to 102 or 104. then I can decide who I’m jumping up with. looking forward to this going live. hasn’t yet on my phone. I would be pretty disappointed if my roster was all at 120 though. but hey, the multiple buffs is hurting me in pvps, at least I get a bone somewhere.
edit: literally went back to my phone and it prompted me for the update, so it is live. FYI - 40 to 104 = 14,450 iso…
WOW. this is great. finally something positive. seems like this is the best I’ve felt about the game is quite some time.
yep - I had 150K saved. I had prioritized who I’d put levels into. I just leveled everyone I wanted to as far as I wanted to go with them and only spent 100K of it. still have 50K left - might be able to max a second character in a week or 2.
I’ve had like 170k saved, so as I’ve been leveling up, I’ve been updating the wiki. It looks like at Level 129, the costs are the same as pre-R75 for ***. Otherwise, it’s way cheaper, especially at early levels.
While I appreciate the leveling break going forward, count me as one of the people really annoyed that there will be no compensation for working hard to develop a diverse roster. Most of my characters are over the level break where I’ll see any real reduction, which is disheartening. I invested a bunch of time getting enough ISO to level all my characters, so I feel like I just wasted a couple hundred hours of my life grinding Lightning Rounds for ISO.
That’ll happen.
I was doing this process very quickly since my Enemy of the State sub was in need of severe grinding.
All figures provided in the OP should be taken as a general guideline.
Exact level amounts and the exact levels could be off by a little due to quick observations/human error.
Sure. Your post is of course very helpful despite this minor mistake. I just know exactly it’s lvl 120 because I levelled 15 characters to that point earlier today.
