We’re getting a roadmap ready to show you folks soon™️, but in the meantime we’ve been continuing the work of improving the backend of the game. There’s always more work to do, but we are hoping these changes in 339 do provide some noticeable improvements.
Quality of Life
Ongoing Performance Updates
Optimisations of UI performance
Improvements to memory usage
Please let us know if you see anything odd (well… Odder than usual, or different-odd) after 339. The update has been tested on a lot of different devices on each platform by the QA team, but MPQ is an old and complex beast, so it’s difficult to guarantee little gremlins haven’t slipped through here and there.
Miscellaneous
Reduced ambient sound effects in the main menu
Mobile status bar should no longer display on 16:9/4:3 Aspect Ratios
PC Builds now use a more performant and secure backend (IL2CPP)
PC Builds will now load to your native Resolution on the first run of the game, and no longer stretch the screen to fit if you have a non 16:9 Aspect Ratio monitor
Purchase errors now display more information to help indicate the problem
Cache size limit for the bundles was increased from 2GB to 4GB
Bug Fixes
Occasionally, the wrong version of a Descended character displays instead of the selected version on the Team Select Screen.
If you have multiple of the same Character being Descended, only one of them can be used.
Descended characters are no longer being set to minimum level for the required rarity.
Fixed weird exaggerated, diagonal pulsing on tiles
Duplicate teams will no longer display when less than 12 teams are saved when viewing the Saved Teams pop-up.
New characters will no longer appear before their release date in Daily Shards
Limited characters will no longer appear in Daily Shards
I can understand not wanting to preview new characters in daily shards but occasional access to limited characters was nice even if it is considered a bug.
Probably the wrong place to bring this up, but there was talk before you guys of fixing the backup options to the game. I play on both iOS and Android and the Facebook and Google options doing play well cross platform. Any update on backup options would be much appreciated.
Something I noticed regarding Descended characters is that you lose any ability to use Supports on them. It’s not exactly the biggest deal for DDQ, but it’s interesting because some have one equipped before they’re Descended/in their standard iteration.
So it doesn’t hold one that you put on them, nor can you add one for a battle.
Maybe there’s no resolution to this issue, but it is interesting. Shouldn’t be impacting anyone winning or losing if you’re walking around with ascended 3s and 4s etc. It’s probably due to creating temporary lower tier versions of the characters to use one time, basically.
It does seem like most of the issues introduced in R338 and mentioned here are being addressed in R339
Supports on descended characters, is on the original bug list.
You have a valid points, supports are not listed on the Release notes, nor is it critical.
"tested on a lot of different devices"
If we are expecting future major releases to be less frequent, like every 3 or 4 weeks, vs. the previous 2 weeks,
providing a Beta a week before can be helpful.
There is extra overhead for a small team, but you get free QA as well.
