Roster advice 2-3 star transition

So I have been a 2 star to 3 star transitioner for the longest time (today is daily reward 297 for me). I have always believed in not levelling my 3 star characters past 94, so that my PVE scaling will be kept in control. However, MPQ had become quite grindy for me, and due to work and other commitments, I won’t really have time to grind PVE at fixed time intervals anymore (maybe only occasionally at most).

Thus, I’m trying to see if my roster can be upgraded to be reasonably competitive in PVPs. I gather that for it to be worthwhile playing PVPs, you have to be able to consistently finish in top 25 (2 covers)? This is of course assuming that I will not longer have the health packs to play PVE, and that PVE scaling will go absolutely nuts such that I can never place well enough in PVE again. What kind of roster, score (or time commitments) would it take to reach top 25 in PVP in general?

and a lot of other 3 stars with fewer covers that it is not even worth mentioning.

Also, I have my 2 star Ares, Thor, Daken, Wolvie, OBW, Ms Marvel, Hawkeye, Torch, Storm. No more MNMags, I sold him for HP after the nerf.

Currently, I am sitting on slightly over 1m ISO, but no HP.

The issue I have with my roster is that I feel I am lacking a lot of covers. My 3 stars, save for a few, seem hardly useable that I don’t even know how much it will help me in PVE or PVP levelling them up. With the covers, and ISO I have, it is possible for me to upgrade my roster and make a worthwhile shift to PVP? Or should I just stick to status quo, and play PVE for the covers whenever I’m reasonably free? Also, should I sell some of my 4 star, 3 star or 2 stars to make room for a 1 star Jugg? With a Jugg I can get a significant amount of ISO more everyday from DDQ.

Bring Blade and Falcon up, you need some purple. You have a really solid core sitting at 94. Cap/Pun/Falcon is nasty business, Caps yellow and blue make shields, Pun’s green makes strikes, black makes attack. Falcon’s yellow strengthens them all… great team, especially for long matches.

my experience with 1-166, 1-142, 1-120 and ~25 at 104: made it to 1000 for the first time ever. was not enough for t25 in that event. in this last event it would have been enough for t25 but I did not find the **** progression to be worth it and I didn’t need to placements that bad (wasn’t worth the hp it would’ve taken). to hit t25 used to take ~750 (last season and prior) and I could do it with 2-3 shields, sometimes one if I timed everything right. now with higher points, you go up and down much faster (both ways), so shields are ‘essential’ for placing and doing well in pvp. when I hit 1000, I spent 600hp on shields and hopping. my go-to team is 166Lthor/142loki/featured, so it is not the fastest team, so during peak hours I only played 2 matches in my hops and I still got hit once most of the time. really, if you can initially push up around 800, the time commitment goes way down because you’re only playing 2 matches at a time here and there after that, but you have to time things to where the 3hr/8hr shield cycle works for you. but you have to be able to get there first and the way I see it, with a bunch of 94s it would be nearly impossible. I hit t25 twice last season but haven’t hit it yet this season. you have to have a high end base team (and it helps to have multiple teams) and then be willing to spend hp, but once you’re there, it can happen.

It is now extremely cheap to level 3-4* to lvl ~100-120. I’m leveling all my undercovered 3* soft capping them at 102 - somewhat arbitrary number where I feel they are doing on par with maxed 2*. I can’t advise you what you need to do to succeed in PVP. One thing I can tell you for sure - you can freely level you undercovered 3* to level ~100 (or 94 if you feel more comfortable with that number) without wrecking your PVE scaling. This way your playable roster will more than double and you’ll have way more options mixing your 2* and 3* in some effective team combinations. And by the way it won’t make a dent in your 1 mil iso - it cost ~10K iso to bring 3* from lvl 40 to lvl 100

Of your undercovered 3*s, blade and especially lazy Thor will have value of you level them.

If you did level 5-6 of your 3* to level 140+, you could almost certainly start scoring 800 in the current PvP environment. Even with sub optimal 3* teams.

What sort of alliance are you in? At the least you should consider mercing for individual PvP events whenever you do have time to play.

Overall you look to be in very good shape with all that iso, but are lacking some key covers for several of the best 3*s.

(disclosure. I am only a few days ahead of you. I have 25 ish covered 3* and an getting close to fielding a few 4*s regularly in PvP. My transition took off when I joined a top 100 PvP alliance (even compared to a top 100 pve alliance).

And yes, get a juggs immediately (sell ms. Marvel or maybe torch). You should do the daily quest every day. iso isn’t as dear as it used to be, but it is still worth having.

Thanks for all the comments! I have brought a few more of my 3 star guys to lvl 94, namely Blade, Falcon, LThor and Luke Cage. In these few days, I have had some good luck in token pulls, pulling a Falcon Blue and Luke Cage Red. Updated my main post.

It’s heartening to know that if I level some of my 3 star to level 140 I might be able to hit 800 points in PVP. Assuming they don’t tweak the PVP progression reward structure after the recent changes to PVP scoring, the 3 star cover at 800 could be quite helpful.

However, they are either low covers (2-3 in each) or lack the most important cover (1 black BP, 1 purple Daken, 3 blue Hood, 3 black Hulk, 3 green GSBW
). Out of these guys, would any of them be playable (in PVP or PVE) with their current covers and some decent levels?

About GSBW, I’ve heard how she’s rubbish even after the HP buff. Is she really though, she has a good crit/green steroid and an excellent green (when I can get it to 5 covers)? If I can get covers to change her to 5/3/5, would she be a good character to have at a nice level?

With another weeklong PVE coming up, where I don’t have the essential Carnage, and with a Beast reward, I think I’m just going to aim for the max progression CMags cover. Beast used to be like the one of the worst 3 star in the game, not sure how he is now after his buff, but I still think of Beast rather badly.

As for alliance, I’m currently in a casual alliance with some of my friends, we don’t really go for consistent rewards. In the past, I did occasionally merc for top 50/100 PVE alliances when I had time to grind out a good score, though.

I had wanted to sell one of my 2 stars for Juggs for the longest time, I hardly even use some of them (I have hardly touched Hawkeye, for example). However, the new 2/3/4 star essentials in PVE is kinda pissing me off on that. I have never seen a Nick Fury cover in all my days playing the game, and it has cost me in recent PVEs where Nick Fury was essential.
