Hi guys,

I figured the forums are the best place for this due to the ephemeral nature of discord.

There’s a fair bit of disappoinment today from the lack of communication regarding:

  1. The latest legends rotating in 5* Namor and Luna Snow

  2. The supports rotating on their normal pattern

  3. Classics remaining the same for what appeared to be a third season in a row (we learned on Discord that classics will be rotating).

That I am aware of no one has ever conveyed that LLs and Supports rotate as a grouped pair, but that was communicated today. And it appeared to be confirmed that at least for now there would be no rotation of the LL’s and Supports until next season

Many of us appreciate the time and effort that @S0kun has put into communicating with the community, and we hopefully all recognize that he is just the messenger. It can be a thankless job and his willingness to continue to be the public face of this game has to be commended.

But… it feels like the wheels might be a bit loose (I wouldn’t call them falling off yet, but there’s some wobble), the timing of communications about when certain things are occurring which are outside of the norm has been falling behind. And I’m willing to give S0kun the benefit of the doubt, and the dev team the chance to explain.

We know that change in this environment has been challenging for you. If memory serves the codebase has been referred to as spaghetti at times (meaning that the code has lots of knots and connections to disparate parts of other aspects of the code, and modifying or removing one portion of code has potentially unintended effects elsewhere that don’t surface without extensive testing).

This is to say, that I understand that many improvements take time, navigate frustrations, code rollbacks, and QA, and potentially, given the state of the game as one of legacy code and largely legacy players, a shrinking support and dev team.

All I would like to ask for is proactive communication when there are significant deviations from the norm.

You’ve conditioned us to expect certain things to occur on a regular cadence. And when they don’t, it leads to frustration if no one has been informed ahead of time.

I’ve tried to remove any emotional language, and remain neutral to positive when speaking of the people behind this game. We do appreciate you. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it.

We just ask for the respect of being notified ahead of time when schedules change.

PS, if you can rotate the LL’s and Supports prior to next season, you would make a lot of players quite happy, or at least significantly less frustrated.

PPS, if you can’t, because of whatever reason, just communicate that. We all understand disappointment.

At the end of the day, this is just a game. And one we all love.

Why are announcements like this being made on Discord instead of the official forum?

I couldn’t care less about rotation or whatever, but you have an OFFICIAL FORUM for a reason. It’s linked in the game. Everything should always come here first – not to some group of vets in a top secret chat room somewhere.

For personal reasons I was disappointed too (I don’t need more Nova and need Namor). I wish the rotation would have happened now and the break next month. To me it seems there is a new 5 star it should go in now. Since there isn’t a new 5 star this go around the gap should be next time not now.

The Discord in question is the official Marvel Puzzle Quest Discord.

I agree the communication needs to be in multiple places but that’s not top secret in any way.

Is it? How many players are in it? Is there a link to it here? Can you get to it from the game (like you can get to the official forum that has an official announcements section)? The last Discord I was aware of for MPQ was a piggyback on the podcasters’ channel, and was in no way an officially sanctioned BCS/505 channel.

Good luck finding an announcement in a discord… forums are just better for this type of stuff.

Case in point, rotation not changing, not in the announcement channel.

Fair, you need to either be following along or search for s0kun posts or something.

I’m not arguing it’s a good method to convey info to the community besides word of mouth from the people in it.

They absolutely should post their official plan in the forum.

But: classics will update tonight/very early on 12/13. Latests will update next month (I believe) along with Support rotation at season start. Luna will enter tokens on 12/26.

So, a year-old post here. There’s also no link to Discord from the game itself. I actually read the forum, and I had no idea there was an official Discord.

If their plan is to issue official announcements only on Discord, or on Reddit, or on TikTok or Vine or Myspace or whatever they pick, then TELL US that is where to go, and link to it from the game itself.

I am disappointed as well. I have been waiting for Namor to enter LLs. Strange that they would not rotate when there is actually a 5 star ready, as opposed to next month when there is not one. But who am I to assume logic.

It’s particularly bad if you are not a US based player, wading back through all the posts with no real idea where you would be looking for this sort of stuff.

On the plus side, the Classics have reset. Luna not available in either CL or LL though.

If they flipped the classics why not flip the latest?

It just seems wildly stupid that they don’t make an announcement on the forums. They flip some things but not others.

I would prefer consistency above all things.

I think flipping Classics is good. They had already been in for 2 months ago another month would have been stagnant, especially since a survey had come out.

I think not flipping Latests or Supports at the same time is bad. I don’t want to speculate on the rationale for why this was the choice, but I disagree with it.

I am hoping the reason they made this decision is that they know a ton of folks are waiting to bust 550 hoards and will get 100k+ hp and they don’t want those folks to then immediately use that hp on the upcoming super awesome vaults. They want people to spend cash to buy hp for those vaults, then bust their hoards and spend hp inefficiently like by spending 20k for a mostly useless 2Bob4.

The reason I’m hoping this is the case is then at least we get good vaults.

I’m glad to see someone as cynical as I am. I do think it’s PROBABLY just our normally unorganized and uncommunicative dev team at work here, but I was hoping that I could unhoard in case something good came along.

I really doubt those great vaults from late last year/early this year are coming back. They were so out of scale with any other vault I thought they were a mistake at first.

I agree that it’s really terrible that Namor won’t be available for pulling for at least another two weeks (Sokun said on Discord he would bring the idea up with the devs and it sounded reasonable to him,) considering the normal rotation for new characters is entering tokens the following season. The fact that there’s nothing to phase them out the next season seems completely irrelevant - they introduced new characters, do they want us to play them or not?
