Standard Rotation Schedule

Is there a standard rotation schedule that is easy to read, maybe in table or calendar format?

Also, when it rotates, what rotates in and out?

I am trying to understand how to spend my orbs, gold, and purple thingies.

Here’s how I understand the new rotation (someone correct me if I’m wrong please).

We currently have 5 Non-Origins sets in Standard (IXN, RIX, DOM, M19, and GRN).

We will continue adding sets to Standard with no sets dropping until there are 7 non-Origins sets (see above plus Ravnica Allegiance and whatever New Ravnica #3 is after that)

When the 8th non-Origins set becomes available, the 4 oldest non-Origins Standard sets will rotate out to Legacy (in this case it will be IXN, RIX, DOM, and M19 rotating out, with GRN, Allegiance, Ravnica #3 and whatever the next set is (my bet is M20) making up the new Standard)

Origins will always be Standard.

If WoTC keeps up their schedule of 4 new sets per year (3 main sets + Core) with a release every 3 months or so the next rotation should not happen until Summer 2019 or Fall 2019.

Add Origins.

As of right now, rotations will only happen when the Q4 set releases each year.

SO if I were to invest in GRN, that would last through the next rotation? Correct?

Yes. GRN will be in standard a looooooong time.

@Brigby
Maybe the Standard rotation needs to be pinned/stickied to the top of General Discussion too …

glad that you still hang with us :smiley:

It’s 8/9 not 7/8 I think. From the blog:

Sets will be added to Standard until it reaches 8 non-Origin sets. Once the ninth non-Origins Set is added, the oldest four non-Origins Sets will be moved to Legacy.
