I missed the end of yesterdays events (2 simulator sub events and Lord of Thunder PvP) due to having a real life and being out drinking with friends. But I had put a lot of effort into those events to set myself up for a last hour push. Needless to say I was bummed out today when I saw my lame rewards of 6 standard tokens. This is not when the “magic” happened. All tokens were worthless and my MPQ mood didn’t improve. Making my way through the new simulator sub events and I start asking myself if I shouldn’t play another game instead.
But I’m looking at my excel table where I diligently fill in all my token pulls and I’m thinking “surely I’m due something good from a standard soon”. With 15K ISO I decide to start spending on standard tokens til I get something good.

15K ISO this little experiment cost me. I started this post after the two 3* cause that was some sick luck, but in the end RNG bit me in the ass.
Was this a big mistake? Would the Iso have been better spent bringing my Hulk from 54 to 68?
Think of it like a casino slot machine. Go in with your bankroll of money you can afford to lose…there’s a miniscule chance you’ll get extremely lucky and hit a nice prize, but usually your just gonna have the fun of playing and hoping for a little while.

Now I’m wondering what a reasonable ISO price would be for a 3* in terms of buying standard tokens. I still don’t have enough tokens to bring anyone over level 100.
Nice token pulls! I’ve probably opened at least 50 standard tokens filled with 1s and MHawkeye between yesterday’s BP K pull and my previous 3 standard pull.
This may have become my new reason for playing this game.
I just dropped another 6K until I got a Red Punisher.
I feel like this is helping me with that age-long question. “Who should I level?”
If I spend my ISO to get 3* covers eventually I will max out one of my 3* heroes. At that point I will know who to level and then my ISO will have a purpose. As it stands I have been lost when it comes to my 3* putting ISO into whoever was boosted for any given event.
Also, since PvP rewards change from event to event it takes forever to get one hero maxed.
HailMary - I believe you’re in my Simulator total bracket. I saw you sitting at the top a few days ago. Where are you at now?
You have roughly a 1 in 40 chance to score a 3* cover from a standard token (and 1 in 11 for a 2*) so grabbing 2 3* covers from 30 tokens is great luck. (I pity the guy from the tracking spreadsheet who redeemed 250 tokens and only got 1 3*. Ouch.)
Just redeemed a couple of tokens won from the sim. Pulled a yellow IM 35, and was bummed. Then I did the second and saw the gold cover right before you open it and was pumped. It was a black doc doom. Now that was the first three star character I’ve gotten from a standard in a couple of weeks and I was excited. But it made me wonder… do they keep them from me on purpose or do I just have terrible luck. I can’t really complain though. When I first started I was pulling three*** from them pretty often. So it all evens out in the end right?
Lightning rounds do give a lotta tokens. I cashed in like 100 recently and got about 4 3 star, 3 hp and 6 2 star pulls. Roughly 1 in 8 were better then the normal 1 star and 50% of that to get 3 star or hp.
I like hearing about people’s token habits and luck.
I’m completely unable to hold on to tokens like some people do where they collect 10-100 and open all at once.
I definitely feel like I’m having better luck with the standard tokens when I’ve been buying them with ISO.
For all of the simulator sub events I hadn’t gotten a single 3* from any of the standard tokens and I think you can get 10 from each so around 60(?) from the first 3 rounds of the simulator sub events (assuming you get them all).
The first 2 months with the game were terrible for me. I think I was 1% to draw a 3* from a standard token. Then 10 days ago (just before the new pve event started) I pulled three 3* from 20 standard tokens. Black Doom, yellow Spidey and red Ragnarok. Since then I have opened 30-40 standard tokens and all I found is 1xAres and 1xA.Wolverine. There is nothing worse than a streak of luck when you don’t expect it. Afterwards, you feel you are entitled too all the goodies, but reality will ground you hard and you start feeling like a kid whose toys were taken away.
Same. My sister was in town (funny thing: she got me into MPQ, but she no longer plays now
), and insisted on opening my node-reward standard tokens for me. She… apparently has much better token luck than me, and got me the OBW B I needed to max her out. Out of two sets of 4, she’s pulled more non-MHawkeye 2* (1 OBW, a couple of C.Storms) than I’d pulled in my last 30-40.
I feel the same way about powered-up event tokens. I’ve gotten almost nothing but MHawkeye, Bullseye, AWolv from my ~15 placement tokens - 1 Ares & 1 Doom were the exceptions, I think. But, I bought four daily-deal tokens (first time I’ve ever done so), and they got me: Hood B, Ares Y, LThor Y, BP B. Then, I bought a fifth one, and it was Bullseye. I have stopped buying them.

The only thing from a “special” token that I can remember is my green X-force. It was right after the patch that showed what tier award you got from the token. So I saw that gold and got the X-force. But next time I saw that gold I thought it meant another 4* so was slightly bummed when I realised that 3* also display as gold
Don’t think I’ve ever pulled the featured 3* from special packs.
I’ve been getting a lot of MHawkeyes recently too.
I envy your BP and LThor pulls. I only ever get the “older” 3* (Hulk, C.Mags, Hood, IM40, Punisher, Loki) from pulls. Oddly enough I’ve never gotten a Rag (only from daily reward and I had to sell him).

So I read this and the degenerate in me took over and I immediately dropped 10k iso into gambling even though I dont have a single lvl 85 character (though I dont have the covers for one either). 20 rolls =
pretty sweet haul, especially considering it gave me some worthwhile covers for my 1 star to 2 star conversions in wolvie and thor… Even though it was dumb of me.
Standard tokens have been largely poor for me although the occasional useful cover pops up. I was expecting my usual ‘100 ISO, IM35 flavour’ to come up to sell and got a Punisher earlier so it was certainly a nice change
