Updates to S.H.I.E.L.D. Rank and Player XP (11/7/17)

@brigby

Please don’t take any offense to this, but if one of the goals of this change is to make sure newer players aren’t being faced with challenges that their roster can’t yet reasonably complete, maybe just raise the minimum rank required to enter events? I know when I was rank 47 (or whatever it is currently), trying to play in cl9 probaby would have made me want to quit.

It seems to me that the majority of forumites have reached their current shield rank through activities.such as 2* farming. While the XP gained for this activity has always been welcomed, most of us (I think) would agree that being able to green check a node or win a match in Versus is a much greater indicator of roster strength than just constantly rerostering the same characters over and over again.

Tl:dr. While the increase to the cap on SR is very welcome, I don’t think it should come at the expense of what is one of the more important parts of a match-3 game…you know, matching gems.

@Brigby Will this new system account for what’s been done in the past to one’s roster, or will it only affect what’s done moving forward?

The idea of having shield level match roster strength makes sense. The issue with SCL 8 and 9 requirements were too low, letting people who shouldn’t be playing at those levels attempt and get dejected.

But this should work in reverse too. Don’t want noobs in high SCLs? Great. Get whales out of SCL 6 and 7. Since level is directly proportionate to roster strength, put a max level on a clearance level. Stop the pvp whiners from jumping down to SCL 6 for easy CP and get the champed 5* rosters out of Pve SCL7

You know that millions of iso is not really that big amount of ISO, right ?

Each 4* needs 365k iso to champ and each 5* needs like 550k. So far, the release schedule is like 2x 4* and 1x 5* every month and a half, so you need like 1.3M every 1.5 months or 0.85M iso per month just to catch up with the release.

Edit: Thanks for bringing us this great news (new SR cap) by the way.

Kinda makes me want to see a breakdown of where my current XP has come from. Most of my 3s are in that range (all north of 230 except Elektra/Gambit), and I only have 44-45 4s champed, but I did champ a 5* over Anniversary, so I’m roughly in the same boat.

But I hadn’t hit 125 yet.

I feel like I gain XP faster from all the stuff that will no longer gain XP, and the stuff that is now going to be worth a lot of XP is stuff I’ve already done a lot of, and the GUT reaction is that if it had been this way from the start I’d be a higher level by now.

But I can’t see where past XP has come from, so I really don’t know, so now I have that curiosity and lack the ability to dig in and see for myself. Because feeling like you “should” be a higher rank (and thus have the ISO from reaching those ranks) isn’t fun, and I have no way to confirm (and thus go to CS to rectify the situation) or deny (and thus stop worrying about it in the first place because I’ve seen the numbers and know all is well).

Lol so it’s not “play more, farm more” it’s “buy more, open more.” Dude you guys and you’re being money hungry need to take it down a notch. We wanted an increase. Not a change. Stop fixing crap that’s not broken

Thank you for raising the S.H.I.E.L.D. Rank cap, much appreciated! Looking forward to this extra source of ISO. Would be great to have some more details as in actual ISO numbers just to see the ramp up beyond 125.

They say in the land of the blind, the man with one eye is king. Well I say, in the land of MPQ, the man with the biggest 2* farm is king! Sing the song, boys!!! SING THE SONG, BOYS!!!

This is awesome! I’m 1250 XP away from 125 and I’m glad to know that whatever I decide to do, it won’t go to waste!

Like most times, it’s one step forward two steps back. If you don’t want people playing in the SCL they are not ready for it yet raise the SCL requirement and don’t let people go below the SCL.

@dlegendary0ne If you’re talking about the amount of XP gained from characters, the total XP gain will still remain the same as before; just from different sources.

If you’re talking about already being at Rank 125, and whether what’s done after maxing your rank will affect the new level gains, players will be retroactively credited those levels and rewards when the new system is implemented.

The players who get that much retroactive xp don’t need to catch up anymore

Just wanted to say thanks to @brigby and all the devs who implemented this. Sure the ways to get there have changed, but we now have a new goal to reach.

Whoof. All right, I’ll be open to this, but other than the unquestionable good news that is increasing the max rank, I’m not sure I love this news.

Of course, if the true intent was to grant XP fo your roster strength, there’d also be an XP award for leveling characters under the new system. Cough cough. But that’s OK.

The big question for me isn’t so much this change, versus how many people abandon clears five and six in PvE, which I was doing mainly for that green check and the 10XP. If enough people do that and it doesn’t affect my sub and final placmenet too much, this could seriously cut back on the grind.

I support this change. This is how it should have worked from the get go. Hopefully this will eventually allow them to level out SCLs better.

At at a glance this feels like it could be a hit on ISO income. We’ll have to see how it pans out.

looks at provided chart But you do get an XP award for leveling up a championed character. :expressionless:

Won’t affect placement. Not in the top 50 anyways.

Probably not so much the fifth clear (progression), but buh-bye sixth clear for critical boosts.

I think he means those heroes you have at 12/13 covers. Unless they have a upcoming clash, there is little incentive to level a hero until you get that last cover (some of us don’t invest iso until the 14th cover.)

Though I don’t see that as that big of a deal.
