Vintage Characters Returning to Packs! (7/27/17)

Hi Everyone,

Starting with the Mind Gem Season, Cover Stores that have 3-Stars or 4-Stars will now contain all characters from that Star Rating! (Excluding Limited Characters like Howard the Duck, Devil Dino, etc).

Packs that have 3-Stars in them will now contain all 3-Star characters, instead of just a select 20. In addition, packs that have 4-Stars in them will now contain the latest 12 4-Stars (now called Latest 4-Stars), as well as all other non-Limited 4-Stars (now called Vintage 4-Stars).

The chance to pull a 4-Star is split evenly between Latest and Vintage 4-Stars, which means Latest 4-Stars will initially have 3x better odds than Vintage! Players will now be able to get covers for any 4-Star in Cover Stores, while making the Latest 4-Stars more accessible. 4-Star Characters will continue to rotate into the Latest status as they are released, and will enter the Vintage status when there are at least 12 following 4-Stars that have been released.

5-Stars are unaffected by this change.

When we complained about there being more 5s than 4s In Classic LTs, THIS was not the fix we had in mind. Not at all.

Figured this comes shortly after I went through my horde, but THANK YOU!

I like this change a lot more than I don’t. There was something nice about climbing the ladder and just staying ahead of the release treadmill but there’s a lot to like about this change as far as keeping vintage heroes relevant.

Better late (~4 months) than never, that is an acceptable compromise.

A solution for 5*'s is needed though.

They have a solution for that. Spend truckloads of $$$$$$$.

Just made a purchase as a thank you

I feel negative toward this change. I liked character planning. I was happy thinking I’d be able to build and Champ Vulture without going through a huge roster of RNG characters I didn’t want. Retirement was a good thing. And yet, so many super vocal about how it’s so hard to get older heroes. This community sometimes.

good for you doesn’t mean good for everyone. Besides, Bonus heroes are still there, can’t you use that to build new characters up?

But why? And why without notice?

Saw this in game before seeing it here, was pretty surprised! Not the fix I was expecting, but I see it as an improvement over the vaulting of the last few months.

Thank you for not ignoring the problem, even though you didn’t use our suggestions.

This is a nice compromise; thank you. It’s still easier to cover the latest 12, but the older characters are no longer a lost cause.

lol at the second question

At a glance I don’t like this. We want choice not RNG. How hard is that to understand? And now you’ve derailed my long-term planning again with a half backed solution. Why do I bother paying for VIP?

Edit: Also thanks for no warning so people that don’t like the chance can’t cash out before you make it worse… again…

Doesn’t fix the dilution with 5*s, and we need to have a serious sit-down with devs about delivering news in a timely fashion (we’re close enough to implementation that we’re effectively blindsided here, even if, as always, the rumor mill knew something was coming before it was actually announced).

That said, we get to keep the better draw rate for newest characters and gain the ability to acquire older characters again. May not be perfect, but it’s an improvement, for sure!

I’m mostly indifferent to this.

I actually liked just getting the newest 12 as it gave me a good chance to fully cover them.

with this change you have about a 50/50 shot whether you get a newest 12 or an older cover which means that there is a good chance I don’t fully cover a new character before they leave anymore.

that being said I already got the last cover for red hulk that I needed to be able to champ him so that was nice.
but I also got some duplicate old covers for a character I don’t really care about at all and will likely never champ as character release outstrips my iso gain so I will never champ all the 4*s unless they stop releasing them.

gah! this kinda throws a wrench into my hoarding plans. there were numerous 4* that I was glad were vaulted bc their builds didn’t fall right. geez, a little heads up would have been appreciated.

Really excited for the first “they finally undo vaulting like I wanted, but now I can’t cover Vulture” thread.

Exactly! Ugh, roll me back a few days. You can have the Mordos, Coulsons, and Cloak and Daggers. I’ll take my chances.

Absolutely delighted. Finally managed to finish Prof X with his final blue while opening my hoard. Sure, I still had to sell some duplicates, but far more were useful than how it was previously. Big thank you!
