What happened to them "Shaking up the meta"?

Seriously…for YEARS we’ve been seeing the same old tired teams every single round in Shield SIM. Every single match all I see is 550 mbaku/namor/chasm it’s BORING!!!

What happened to the Devs plans to fix this? Literally nothing has changed and 99% of my roster are constantly benched. Never mind the fact I only have 3 550 characters (Mephisto, White Tiger and Yelena) and yet every team I see is maxed out 550s who get endless cascades to kill me before I’ve even taken a turn.

How is this fun for ANYBODY???

Be the change you want to see, but the Chasm/Baku/Namor team in sim is a bit on purpose though, same as the lack of defensive supports on them. It’s for ease of farming to 500 wins.

Are you saying you prefer the newer meta teams of Frankie/iHulk/ Purple Man-Galactus? Of Frankie and 2 Hydra? Or even people putting defensive supports on SamJuggs?

Put out something easily farmable and maybe other people will hit you with test teams or the daily-wins-quest character.

(Also you are a 550 roster. Of course you’re gonna see other 550s. That’s normal. There’s just less Hawkeye teams than before getting wins)

I don’t care what powerful teams as I see as long as its not the same over and over and over. I have ways to counter them most of the time but it’s boring having to use the same teams to counter the same teams day in, day out whilst half of the characters I like go unused.

whenever you see chasm on a team you almost ALWAYS have to counter with a chasn or you die on turn one.

It’s not fun, creative or strategic it’s a monotonous unrewarding grind that they could easily fix but just don’t

And having two, non meta 550 characters should not mean I see the pinnacle of meta teams every single match at 550. Wtf is Mephisto going to do against them? Nothing but die on turn one

The best solution to this is don’t play SHIELD SIM!

Unfortunately the game doesn’t care about which characters you 550 or how good they are, the MMR is ridiculously narrow in a way. 406 characters in game and the top 6 determine who you fight, and once you’re in 550 land it doesn’t matter if you have 6 of them and half the people you see have 50.

IDK what you want them to do but they have stated their project is to basically make the game slower and take longer. That essentially means that eventually every meta toon gets touched. All the 5s (basically every single one, including every 1-5 and 2-5 and 3-5 and 4-5) should be weaker if they ever get to the end (I suspect they won’t).

Chasm was a minor annoyance when the Cart nerfed his stun. He is still too powerful with the existing teams and supports (all you need is the opening advantage and you win). In a way ascended M’baku should be on their radar but he also requires maintaining him at low health to make it work. So who knows.

I do wonder what their plan is etc and what speed they are intending to move forward with.

You don’t even need to have 550s to be in 550 MMR. My top 2 are 536 and it is more than enough to put me firmly in 550 ( and thus 672) MMR. I imagine you have a better chance in PvP if you do have 550s…

Can confirm you dont

Pvp is a punishing hellscape of unfairness and ridiculous damage

I dont think ive mentioned but I dont like pvp much.

  • Disclaimer - Mr Fandango does know that some people do enjoy pvp and this is just as valid as the pure burning hatred he has for this mode. Mr Fandango is also not wanting to reignite the " you do it wrong" “git gud” or “this is why you’re wrong” arguments that repeat ad infinitum

Said before…relative concentration of PVP players among vets, many of whom have 500+ toons of some capacity by now, means that’s who you’ll see once you get there. You don’t have to have spent any actual money to have 550s if you’ve played long enough.

I did recently finally realize you can buy match dmg boosts in color pairs (not the boost-all which requires HP) for iso and that has made a nice change for me to speed up things. Using in PVP only since you have to buy it each match…sure would be nice to buy more than 5 at a time.

Well now you’ll see a lot more who didn’t get there by hard work or spending…

This is happening because there are no “530” players at this point. Rosters go straight from 450 max to 550 max, because of hoarding.

Yeah I figure as much but at least they hoarded. The Devs have now handed an extra advantage to god knows how many players, those players are not at fault at all and entitled to use what is given but that still leaves me and others like me in the losing position here. I can’t see any solution that makes everyone happy so expect to get screwed.

Ah, I see the problem here. Unfortunately you’ve been misinformed.

In MPQ, the only way to make “meaningful progress” is to instantly take one character at a time from base level to 550. Levelling all characters up by one or two at a time over a course of many years is, unfortunately, not “meaningful.” (Or maybe it’s not “progress,” I’m not 100% clear on that).

Either way, I hope you feel terrible. You’ve played all these years and made no “meaningful progress” whatsoever! Your roster is basically the same as someone who just started!

I just want them to switch off supports for PvP… They should never have come in to PvP. To give one team (AI team at that who always gets more cascades) an immediate advantage over you to kill you in one turn just isn’t fun. Like I don’t understand how anyone can not agree with this, surely you remember what a fun game is supposed to be like? Any game EVER that has PvP and has a suffocating meta has it fixed . .. .this is literally the only game I’ve ever played in my life (being an avid gamer in my 40s) where there’s such an obvious problem and the Devs ignore it/can’t see it.

If you think back to when the game was conceived, and what it is supposed to be…do you really think they imagined a scenario where you’d play 10 matches a day and get stunned on turn one and die before you even get a turn in 9 out of 10 of them? It’s ridiculous

I’ve been saying this like a broken record ever since they implemented support in PvP. Oh well…

I can not agree with this because what you are describing is wildly different than my PvP experience. The AI always gets more cascaded than you?? Do you have any evidence of this? Sounds like confirmation bias.

What team is stunning you turn 1? I rarely see a team relying on stuns aside from the occasional purple man team.

Ap supports are the only thing keeping Sam/juggs from being the only team around. They give me an immediate advantage far more often than the ai, who will often waste the ap on a useless power. Supports in PvP have made my experience vastly more fun and more varied, and I know plenty of other PvP focused players feel the same way.

Don’t assume you’re point of view is the only point of view

I think these folks are just asking to slow the game down, generally?

It’s complicated, because removing supports from PvP would do that, maybe, but it would also homogenize the metagame, even more than it is today. And if the best passive characters didn’t get nerfed at the same time, it really wouldn’t slow the game down by very much.

I’m not. My post is about my own point of view.

@WhiteBomber and I must have been off sick as we missed “the Devs now 550 you for free!” lesson at MPQ college!
