Technically the “next” character is Gweenpool.
I doubt Strange will be the 2nd upcoming character. We ought to have one more late October, then one early November, and THAT will be Strange.
So it’s Gweenpool, late October, THEN Strange.
I figure late October will be as close as we get to a Halloween character. What would be awesome is a boss event vs Marvel Zombies, where we fight a hoard of heroes with powers tweaked to make them zombie-like. What I would like is Morbius or Man-Thing. What I think is far more likely would be a new Blade, or a six-arm Spidey (regular six-arm, or maybe a full blown Man-Spider?). Though honestly, would want several of those together (a new story event with Spidey and Blade and Morbius that adapts the six-arm saga)
But back on topic, regardless of whether or not you count Gweenpool as the “next” character (since she’s been revealed, but not released), I still don’t think Doctor Strange is “next”, because there should be one more before him.

What happened to Medusa…wasn’t there a thing where we voted and she won?
I would love Dr. Strange, he’s such a neat character and I’m sure we will see him closer to his movie date. (Hopefully!)
I think after Gwenpool, will be 5 star Medusa.
Pretty sure they’re gonna save the 5 
of the month for the character that has a blockbuster movie coming out.

For something Halloween related I wouldn’t say no to Shiklah (Deadpool’s wife, former fiance of Dracula, and Queen of the Monsters).
It’s really not a matter of what the fans want so much as what the MCU is pushing these days, which is a shame.
