I put a tank team in almost 4 hours ago at 125 points and have not been attacked once. Is the problem that no one is playing this tournament or are people afraid of my 3 lvl 6 2*s?

You need to get to a little higher in points before throwing in the tank team. I hit 500 and threw in the tank team. It took a while but I was worth points. At 100, I only see a handful of attacks. Shoot for 200 or 300 for more attacks.
It’s true that 125 isn’t a super attractive target, but it’s also true that this tournament is unusual. I’ve been at 400+ for over a day, and 600+ for half of it, and I’ve been attacked exactly twice: one defeat, one win. My team is annoying, in that all three are buffed, but my Loki is only at 64. People just don’t care about this tournament.
After putting in my tank team around 15 hours ago I’m down to 252 points (from 315ish).
My tank team of maxed modern storm, level 15 patch and level 2 modern widow has one or two defensive victories as well (hoping those were to opposing tank teams).
I’m not playing until the last few hours. Don’t like the format,
I’m skipping because I don’t care about the Iron Man rewards. Spending on my time on the Hulk event instead.
This team has now won 3 in a row and 4 of the last 6 matches and I’m up to 332 points. Fun stuff…
I’m a bit confused about what you guys mean by the “format” of this tournament. Isn’t the format for the pvp all the same, just different rewards and buffed/banned characters. I don’t see anything different in the setup of this tourney from the others.
I don’t think you’ve a loaned hero in this tournament so unless you got a spare level 1 Modern Storm sitting around, chances are pretty good you’ll be forced to have at least one strong character on your roster. If you have say a level 85 Ares + level 6 bagman + level 1 Yelena, that can still do significant damage and people won’t be too eager to fight you. And even Modern Storm has a tendency to pull off random miracle cascades.

For this one 500 will be good for like #20 if it stands that way
(and I doubt about missing top50 in any case) so more benefit to just leave the normal team and grab the prize if one bothered to fight to that actually.
I stopped just crossing, with 517 oscillating between #8 and #10.
On my bracket top 1 is at 722 points, so it seems that around 500 points would be enough to top 50.
Between four hulk sub’s going on, a reworked awards structure, and covers a lot of people have or don’t want, I’m not surprised there’s not much action. I did get some bites on my tank team at 100 points, all level six though.
