I got a 3* version of a 2* character from one of the vaults tonight, and accidentally used it to level up a 2* version of the character. Shouldn’t this be impossible to do? Basically, I am out a much more valuable cover that got used to bump a 2* character by one level.
This was supposed to be fixed so that it wasn’t possible.
Contact Customer Service and start a ticket and then expect to wait a while.

I just had the same happen to me, definitely not fixed. I submitted a ticket.
I submitted one too. No response yet.
Just accidentally wasted another 3* Ascended, a Daken this time. It allowed me to use it to level up 2* Daken.
