Can't 370 Magneto

Now, this is the sort of one where I have to question myself. Did I really see what I think I just saw?

I had this Magneto parked at 369, 1 cover and about 200-250 shards for a day or two. I was waiting for one of my 2 star Magneto dupes to hit 127, so I could bank 200 shards before the final favourited push to get him ascended (I have another one at 275). That last required 2 star cover dropped earlier today so I advanced him to 369 and 2 covers and pushed for the last 150-200 shards to finish him off. I cracked enough tokens and applied 300 shards for a level up to get him to 370. The background glow animation played as if he levelled up, but all that’s actually happened is 300 shards are gone.

Could my detailed recollection be wrong? Is it more likely that it’s a bug? Should I collect another 309 shards and see if it happens again? Should I put a ticket in to customer service?

There have been multiple reports of “Can’t apply covers”
However in those cases they are using covers and not shards.

In at least one case, they applied the cover, came back later, the character was not leveled, and the cover they had applied reappeared.
(As if nothing had happened, everything was rolled back in time)

I’m going to try applying shards again once I’ve saved up enough. I have a growing feeling that the shards have applied to the 275 dupe as the dupe is at 275 and 2/3 covers, which is not what I remember the dupe being on. Question then is did the game do it or did I make a mistake?

Gathered 300 shards again and they applied as normal this time.

I guess I’ll never be sure whether this was a bug. It’s much easier to say it was me making an error.
