If my biggest chase card is in the Elite pack pool, and I have say only 100 jewels (and have already bought all of the 1-time purchases in the Specials section of the vault), I’m totally out of luck, aren’t I?
8 mythics/masterpieces in the pool rotating every 2 weeks means it’ll be 38 weeks before the first cards come back around again. Throw in a new block during that time and it’s over a Year before that card shows up again.
And if I only have 100 jewels at the time, it’s not even possible for me to grind and/or pay to get enough jewels before the 2 weeks are up.
Even if I find a way to get the 300 more jewels I need, then I have a 1 in 8 chance to get the card I want. Or maybe get a Yahenni instead. (Assuming that Yahenni isn’t weighted more heavily than the one I want.)
The time scale the devs want for this game is insane. As I posted in another thread, Ohboy said that a mythic every 2 weeks is a fast pace. That would take over five years to get all the current mythics in the game right now if you got no dupes, which is not feasible.
That’s WITHOUT ANY NEW CONTENT FOR FIVE YEARS. I don’t know what kind of time scale devs and Hibernum expect from us.
I don’t think I can grind out even 60 crystals a day, much less multiple 60s per day. If the answer is supposed to be “open your wallet”, then they should just sell jewels in the vault.
Given how much time, effort and/or money it costs to finally earn 400 mana gems, please consider modifying the elite pack as follows:
Opening an Elite pack will choose 3 cards at random, and the player can choose 1 of those cards.
For the love of all that’s holy, there is no worse feeling than spending 400 mana gems on a dupe or trash card. You are building up the value for players to have a carrot to chase: fine. But if you want players to actually feel rewarded, if you want players to feel more confident in opening one of those over-priced elite packs, please remove the pain and suffering we all know as your RNG algorithm and allow 3 shots at proc’ing something useful.
I opened one of your packs and got the Aetherwind Basker. Not what I was looking for, but relieved because it wasn’t a dupe. I have the ability to give you more money right now and try again, I have 3 of the cards and would even settle for any of the 5, however I am not going to do it because I “know” I will just proc a dupe and be sick to my stomach. There is no way I am giving you my hard earned money for nothing in return.
This is my objective feedback. Please do something about it if you want players to be happy and give you more money.
Please consider waiting for pool to rotate so you get better than a 40++% chance of getting something new if you’re actually going to open another pack.
I like the idea of a choice of cards. I opened an elite pack as I wanted 7 of the 8 possibles and ended up with Lightning Runner which was the only card I already had. Seriously miffed after spending 400 jewels.
I think your math is off bro. I have 3 cards of the current 8 being offered. That means I need 5 of them. 5 / 8 = 62.5%.
Regardless, suppose I had only 1 card of the 8. I spend 400 gems on a pack. I proc a dupe. What then? Your solution of waiting for a high % didn’t work, did it?
The purpose of my suggestion is to ease the “gambling” part out of pack purchases, while still allowing randomization.
And for the record, I am more patient than you can imagine.
Case in point. Exactly the scenario that needs to be avoided.
You’re assuming the droprate of masterpiece is the same as a mythic. In paper mtg, the difference between the droprate of a masterpiece from a mythic is far greater than that of a mythic from a rare. We don’t know the exact rates yet, and probably won’t for a while…but it’s probably prudent to assume striking a masterpiece in the elite pack is much harder than striking a mythic. That’s why for all my calculations, I just take the worst case scenario and assume masterpieces don’t exist, so it’s 40++%(the ++ for the masterpieces)
I think that way more people need to be taking this into consideration. And even the possibility that you are more likely to pull a Yahenni than a Lightning Runner even though they’re the same “rarity”.
I’m just advising you not to spend your valuable jewels because it doesn’t even look as good as a coin flip right now, and choosing to open packs or save for next rotation is well within your control.
Has nothing to do with your suggestion, which is of course ideal to increase our value but probably not going to happen based on the reward structure released so far.
