Give them a break, they’re probably quite overworked today. There was that maintenance not long ago remember, and another one should be along in a couple of hours.
I’m a paying cutomer, so actually as I’m paying for a product they’re supplying me they are under obligation.
Also rarely do they address the bugs in the forum, (Whilst there are a million that spring to mind, L1 grave mist still not working correctly is a perfect example.)
Perceived obligations aren’t the same as legal/actual obligations, though.
That being said, sure, it’d be great to have more communication. I don’t think anyone’s going to be satisfied, though, because “Yep, that’s on our list” doesn’t actually make people happy.
They do have an obligation to their shareholders to make money. The direction the game is heading isn’t looking good for that. Besides the bugs that they either can’t fix or just don’t bother, the game is down so often now with the broken events that people will have less and less opportunity to spend money. Not to mention willingness to do so.
What are you a plant for the devs? No actual player of this game should be defending the devs or the absolute lack of feedback from them to all their paying customers. Give your head a shake man!
Exactly right. That’s the bottom line. Red ink or black. And with the marketplace already saturated with FTP games, the games that are successful are the ones that stand out through addictive, rewarding gameplay. People spend money they don’t have to on games that are technically free because the game is worth supporting. And what you purchase is worth your investment. But all the “technical difficulties” are just crippling this game and when you spend money, rarely do you feel like you got fair value. Those two factors are the deathblow for a FTP game. So many players are programmers or tech people, and spend lots of money, so the frustration stems from the constant, ongoing nature of the problems. And the simple blatant fact that most of us play other games too, have for years, and hardly ever have these kinds of issues. So much darn potential here, we’re all screaming at the fates to just do what so obviously needs to be done. I disclaimer after the fact maybe, but I love the game. Just wish they’d remove the frustration from the equation.
Well, I can say this ‘whale’ is done dropping cash on this nonsense. My wife and I have spent nearly 1000 bucks on this in the last month, and I’m just not seeing the value. We’re hardcore MTG fans, and have been for more than 20 years. We probably have more than half a million paper cards going back to Unlimited edition. Speaking from experience, if I drop 500 on booster boxes for a new set, I have a reasonable expectation of assembling a complete (or nearly) set of cards.
My wife spent 2100 mana gems on the zombie/horror card packs this morning to try and get From under the floorboards and endless Hordes to flesh out her zombie deck for the Halloween event Monday. She opened 4 Diregraf zombies (already had them), 4 bedlam revelers (already had them) 2 despoiler of souls (already had them). Seeing a pattern here? The only new rare she got was the noosegraf mob, and she got a dupe of it in the same pack. And there was one new common card that she somehow had not received yet. In all she received like 17 rares. Other than the 1 rare and 1 common, EVERY OTHER CARD WAS A DUPLICATE. More than half the rares in that set of cards she does not have yet, but the ‘random’ system saw fit to give her 16 duplicate rares instead of ones she was missing. I have to call BS. Frankly that is just completely stupid and in my opinion borders on blatant theft. From my view the system is obviously rigged.
You shouldn’t have to spend 1000 dollars on an app like this to enable all of the content. Heck, with 1000 cash I can go out and buy 4 complete sets of any new paper MTG set released and still have cash left over to spend on other fun stuff. Not so with Puzzle Quest. Between the two of us we have maybe half of the possible rares and mythics out there. It’s beyond frustrating.
Top that off with the AI cheating (they can use abilities more than once per turn, really?), endless AI cascades leaving you with single off-color matches, and the server uptime issues recently, with pitiful compensation like 1000 xp, and I can honestly say that D3 won’t be getting another dime from us. Congrats guys, you successfully scammed us. We’ll continue to play for dailies and such since we’re already invested, on the hopes that it will improve someday, but you won’t be seeing any more money until we see difinitive proof that things have improved.
You have to be watching for it. When the AI starts its’ turn with an ability available that it can use, it will. If it’s gem match ends with an extra swap, and it made enough to use an ability again, it often will do it again. I’ve seen it many times. It’s a bit more prevalent recently with Koth re-released. I’ve seen the AI hit his first ability 3 times in a single round before. I’ve had Liliana drop 4 cards from my hand with her ability in a single turn before.
I’ve also seen it draw extra cards on occasion as well. 2 rounds in a row in a game just this morning. No supports, spells, or creature abilities used or causing extra draws, but 2 turns in a row a Chandra deck ended with an empty hand and started it’s next turn drawing 2 cards.
Maybe these are just bugs? I mostly chalk stuff like this up to the Devs compensating for AI limitations by giving it a ‘boost’. Let’s face it, the AI can be pretty stupid at times as well. I know it rubs me the wrong way when I see it though.
Here’s another example of the duping absurdity. In the last month I have bought 10 zendikar big boxes, and have opened a couple dozen color fat packs, as well as quite a few event reward bfz boosters. Out of the 36 different zendikar mythic cards, I have 5. And I have received a duplicate of 3 of them before. Even duped mirrorpool twice, the second time in the 10 point bfz booster event reward this afternoon. Adding up just the mana crystals for the big boxes, that’s 6000 spent. Or $200. For just 5 of the 36 mythic cards. It’s nuts.
Heck, on bfz rares I only have 25 out of 60, and I am even still missing 8 of the 98 uncommon.
With the dupe rate, how much would one have to spend for a full set? $1000 would not even get all the mythics, probably not even $2000. Maybe $5000? Where is the value Devs? How much should a person expect to pay for complete content in this game? It’s just plain psychotic.
I have seen this happen in the last two events and the QBs. I just ended a match in the current event where it was done two rounds in a row. No supports on the board, no creature card that had that ability, no abilities that give draw cards and no cards cast that would give the AI cards. It’s been happening all day in this current event. So you are either not paying attention or you have gotten extremely lucky.
I played a match earlier where the AI’s creatures would die instantly when they entered the battlefield. I was playing Sorin focused on abusing Deploy, so there’s nothing I could have done to cause that. Just wait until they release Kaladesh and another set of new keywords. Maybe they will just make them as bad as Meld to dissuade people from using them.
