Why have the other big-time coalition events gone the way of the dodo? Can’t we have an Avacyn’s Madness or a Fateful Showdown to spice things up? Or a repeat Inventors’ Fair, or – even better – a Breaking Points? The same event over and over is incredibly dull, especially one that requires as much decklist tinkering as this one to get the baffling secondary objectives.
Hell, I’d take Terror in the Shadows at this point. So, so over RatC. It’s a decent event but it’s as dull as Oath of the Gatewatch now.
Could we have some information about what’s coming ahead? Release date of Amonkhet and when Breaking Points with Tezz 2 is going to take place would be really good to know (and motivating)
Nope. Devs are too busy working on (unwanted) changes to put into the next patch. No time to schedule a different event or change up the existing event. That takes up minutes of coding time that can more profitably be used elsewhere.
Change the objectives? Just change the objectives randomly. We know that thing about testing them was a lie anyway. The Ob Nixilis Arena objectives proved that.
“Hi all, devs here. We just wanted to let you know that we’re re-running the event for Baral’s Expertise since it was bugged the first time, preventing a lot of players from completing progression. Thanks!”
Ok, test over. That took fewer than 10 seconds out of my day to write. That’s all I wanted to see.
Hi Everyone. I had mentioned this previously in another thread, but I just wanted to let everyone know that this was my fault that I didn’t communicate this event ahead of time. I was aware of it being rerun with Baral’s Expertise, but I made the mistake of thinking it was running next weekend. I apologize for the oversight.
well at least in the last bugged event it was possible to get this card,
what about Thalia ? When can we expect Avacyn Madness Event with this card as progression reward ?
Thank you for telling us about the mix-up. This kind of communication is much appreciated.
However…
I noticed a distinct lack of information as to why this is the event for the weekend. This is a golden opportunity for you and your team to pony up and show us some transparency. We’re all sitting here theorizing and hypothesizing about what might have caused this change. Furthermore, we know definitively that you have seen those posts because you have written your own post in response on two completely separate threads. Please, throw us a long-overdue bone here and tell us why you guys decided to make this change.
To save you the time of looking back at the other posts, here are what appear to be the most commonly agreed upon theories:
The event was bugged the last time Baral’s Expertise was available, and this is a way to make up for that by allowing players who were not able to obtain the card previously a second chance to do so.
The development team has decided to proactively address the issue of Rishkar’s Expertise, which we all assumed would be the reward for the Breaking Points event we were expecting this weekend.
Some unknowable purpose beyond our scope of understanding of the development team’s larger goals for the game.
It’s also worth noting that if the answer is 1, 2, or both, that we as a community would view this as a huge and very meaningful step in the right direction. You would do well to loop us in if this is the case; it would help to restore much of the faith that we have lost in the game and the direction in which it is headed.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, please give us some indication of when we can expect the next Breaking Points event. We are all assuming that the new version of Tezzeret will be required for participation in this event. Previously, the pattern has been such that we knew as soon as we saw a new PW on the radar for entering the vault, that there would be an event that weekend requiring the use of that PW. I think it would be unfair to the community to not give us some kind of notice, considering this change to the established pattern. People might miss out on being able to participate and perhaps obtain Rishkar’s Expertise if the next BP event occurs after Tezzeret has left the vault. Please let us know what we can expect.
You’re absolutely right, and pretty spot on with your analysis of the recent Revolt Against the Consulate awarding Baral’s Expertise.
During the card’s initial RAtC event, we had heard many players were unable to participate due to a bug in the event. Since this was such a widespread issue that weekend, we decided that we wanted to rerun this event, so that players had a proper event experience, as well as another chance to obtain Baral’s Expertise.
When it comes to Rishkar’s Expertise, there is already an active report open in our database asking for a second evaluation of the card, and whether there needs to be any adjustments to it. Unfortunately if there are any potential changes, they won’t be available in this upcoming update, since the update is anticipated to be released sometime later this week.
In addition, Breaking Point is anticipated to be running this weekend starting Friday the 21st featuring Tezzeret the Schemer as the required Planeswalker.
thanks for clearifying that, brigby…
but please - how does it come that the information flow from your (–>official, not neccessary you in person) side stopped after a (really, really short) improvement?
And I’m not talking about the recent easter holiday - I actually didn’t expect to hear something official before wednesday
The development team has been very busy lately with numerous upcoming features, such as deck slots or the system addressing duplicates, that they unfortunately haven’t been able to come into the forums to answer questions as frequently as they’d like.
When it comes to me personally, I’ve been playing a lot of catch-up ever since the new forum implementation. (Logging in today, I noticed I received 18 new private messages over the weekend ) Rest assured, I’m quickly getting back to my old self, so I can communicate more in the forums once again!
