Abilities

Ability: EEEEEE

Color: Red
AP Cost: 7

Banshee lifts into the air with his powerful vocal cords, in preparation to deliver a deadly attack. Deal 772 damage to the target, Banshee goes airborne for 2 turns, dealing 521 damage to all enemies upon landing.

Ability: Sonic Shield

Color: Blue
AP Cost: 8

Using his impressive voice, Banshee creates a Sonic Shield to deflect incoming attacks! Select and Fortify 1 tile(s). If Banshee is Airborne, convert up to 1 enemy Strike tile(s) to your own, if any are present.

(PASSIVE) If Banshee or a teammate is to be Stunned, consume 12 AP of your weakest color and negate the Stun if enough AP is available. Create 1 strength 105 tile(s).

Ability: Vocal Intervention

Color: Purple
AP Cost: 9

Banshee flexes his vocal might, shrieking from the depths of his incredible range. Select and destroy a tile; the resulting shockwave destroys 1 AP in the enemy team’s second-highest color. Deal 2569 damage. If the destroyed tile is a special tile, deal 574 additional damage.

I thought when characters were Airborne, they couldn’t fire a power? If so, then not sure how Sonic Shield could be fired when Banshee is airborne.

And, I’ll be the first to add, this is another 5* who looks pretty weak upon arrival. Expensive AP for meh damage. The passive “12 AP of your weakest color” to avoid a stun. The “destroy AP of the second-highest color”. Lots of unnecessary work for not much in return.

Both 5* Sam and Vulture can cast some powers while Airborne so I imagine that will be true of Sean as well.

He doesn’t look great, no, but I tend to reserve judgement until I see him in the game. The “resist stun” aspect of that power is… honestly weird. I think it’s going to rely on too much AP to be useful.

Blue is even worse than it looks. It doesn’t create any SAP tiles, its just costs 8 to fortify existing SAP tiles.

If he’s airborne he can steal some enemy ones which is meh. I’d rather fire almost any other blue power in the game. This should cost like 3 ap.

Im sorry but its another disappointment for me.

I was hoping that with boomerang they were understanding the user base.

Im not sure what his purpose is? Are we just adding characters or are we paying attention to the ebb and flow of the game?

Banshee makes me a very sad panda.

It’s getting harder to be certain that a character isn’t good. I was wrong about Boomerang.

Happy to see Banshee in any capacity though. Surely, after Paste Pot Pete, Banshee was probably the most requested character on the forum. Thumbs up for that!

The best thing I can say about this is it follows the stated design philosophy of lowering the power level of 5s. And boy does it do that well.

The blue passive might be one of worst abilities I’ve ever seen.

Kudos to the person winning the race to the bottom on the design team.

Oh man I really love banshee, ever since gen x/phalanx covenant.

It’s a shame I’ll never get to use him.

Because he looks very under powered

Aren’t those auto fired vs active fired? I could be super wrong though.

I would imagine its like novas green ability where she fires it at the start of each turn

The Airborne passive would be better if he created Strike tiles each turn he’s airborne to show the piercing impact of his scream. Converting tiles doesn’t make sense.

Interesting that it has a Weakest color ability. I don’t think that’s been leveraged before, but I agree with others that it’s too expensive. I guess the Developers were thinking the weakest color is unneeded AP.

And lastly, Banshee needs the Affiliation as Screamer

It’s nice for Banshee to join the party, but just… no.

Him going airborne and needing to be airborne for Sonic Shield just feels so pointless - he inherently gains nothing, and the Sonic Shield power is both too niche and horrendously overpriced without stealing tiles.

I’m guessing conceptually he’s maybe a response to Sam and Juggs - since he flies out the way and steals Strike tiles? Of course he’s far too slow to actually counter or resist them in any way.

Points for design consistency, but I just don’t know what we’re doing here? Are dud 5-stars really better than no 5-stars? By the time players are deep into 5-stars we’re certainly not spending real money on roster slots. Couldn’t we just have one non-ruinous 5-star rebalance ‘relaunch’ every few weeks instead?

Doesn’t Banshee also need the affiliation of Hero? Why are these character profiles always incomplete when they are posted?

I’m still not understanding part of blue (and apologize for being an idiot if it is simple).

Blue upon firing says “If Banshee is airborne” but IF Banshee is airborne, how can he fire blue?

Some characters can fire powers while airborne. He’s likely another one.

Why aren’t his colors Yellow, Green and Black? It is right on his costume. You guys could have made a 6* Vox Ignis with that color scheme you chose and it would have been correct. And used the correct power name, “The Scream of Change” instead of Vocal Intervention. Unless you guys plan on adding 6* Vox Ignis in the future.

I’m putting Vox Ignis cover now and a Banshee cover.

Sweet baby Jesus it is disheartening and exhausting how unbelievably bad whoever (whomever?) is designing these 5 stars is at their job…

Play your own game pleeeeease. Why, why do all of your new 5 stars need to be so crazy undesirable and unusable? Why is your new 4 star with 1 cover better than this 5 star at 550??

What the heck are you afraid of? You could quadruple the value of every one of this guys abilities and he still wouldn’t break in to the top 20.

I very much hope there are important typos here that make him better.

I love Banshee. Have his first appearance in Uncanny at 9.4…Gen-X Banshee was awesome…any Banshee is awesome really…any Banshee but this one.

That said it is painfully obvious that ManThing being useable was nothing but luck. These guys keep missing on design. How can the player base help them out? I mean this and Scorpion, yikes! Would they maybe read a thread about how to make good characters? Or maybe they should go find Daredevils old tier list…obviously hasn’t been updated in a long time…but that might get them going the right way on why characters have been good in the past.

Unfortunately I can’t edit the imagery used in these posts, but I’ve reported the error.
Yes, Banshee should have:

X-Men, Mutant, Hero, Aerial

Thanks. Looks like 5 Vulture and 5 Sam have powers that fire while airborne. I never use them for that so honestly had no idea. In this case, it doesn’t really matter. Banshee is simply horrible.
