Glad banshee is in long overdue
The original Puzzle Quest only had 4 colors (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow) and they represented the 4 elements (Fire, Earth, Water, Air) for spell casting purposes. The other tiles to match were gold (increased your gold to spend at shops), XP (to level your character) and Skulls (how damage was done to the enemy).
KGB
Boomer was pretty obviously good if he worked like how he did in the description… he didn’t at first, now he does. The only good characters we’re getting are in the 4* tier now, which means even more of a commitment to get them ascended and useful.
Banshee is obviously garbo, there’s no getting around it. His damage is 3* level and he does nothing of any real use.
That was a good explanation. Now that you mention it I do remember that scene at the end. I was reflecting her solo show where I remembered her on the ground. But the different flight methods explains why we have so many associated with this new attribute. I just don’t see much in terms of supports, or powers that utilize these many affiliations.
I think it’s time for them to break out of those defined color-ability definitions. Game broke when Unity was added, might as well try something different and actually use the correct colors.
Vox Ignis is the combination of the Spirit of Variance and Banshee during the Krakoa era. Mother Righteous, one of Mr. Sinister’s many clones, combined Banshee and the Spirit of Variance into that. She was also responsible for letting Nightcrawler’s inner beast out.
I’d much rather have Banshee and I don’t even like Banshee…
If you’re referring to characters like Toad, don’t forget if they’re too good/fun, they’ll be “looked at” immediately.
If you’re talking about Famine, well…all hail overlord Famine![]()
So you’re saying you remember her walking down, down, down the road?
I’ll see myself out…
Toad isn’t broken like he was, but still pretty useful imo. I hate it too because they took away my ridiculous toy, but that nerf was well handled at least.
Sucks the devs had to make Banshee suck. I’ve wanted banshee for so long and he is crap. That’s what happened with Odin when he finally made in the game
We keep talking about how these new characters suck & no where near the power level they should be. They admitted their calculator for power budget was off, but I’m not sure they realize just how badly they are off. How about some math?
Each firing of the red does 22,360. That’s 7 red matches at 1003 plus the 8216 initial & 7123 from the AoE.
The current run of The Hunt has Juggernaut in the Challenge Node for sub 2. He has 1,236,125 health for the 4th clear.
That’s 55 times you have to fire his highest damage power to down that one enemy. Not 55 turns, you have to wait for him to come back from being airborne that gets longer & therefore worse at higher levels.
I know how they feel about turn one wins, but 150+ turns seems like a massive overcorrection. I sincerely hope the devs see this & finally understand what we’re talking about.
True, but aren’t you forgetting that you’re supposed to lose at SCL9 and SCL10 if you don’t have well developed 6s?

I have some questions:
- Does the strike tile conversion happen before you select which tiles to fortify?
- Is the thinking that you’re supposed to attempt to collect 7+ AP of your team’s weakest color in order to prevent being stunned; or just that the match will go on long enough that you’re likely to passively collect that AP and it’s a nice bonus? Are players expected to use this ability tactically?
- What is the synergy connecting his abilities?
a) His purple destroys a tile and depletes the enemies’ second strongest color AP, but there’s really nothing else in his kit to make use of those effects.
b) The only way to use his powers together seems to be to go airborne, steal strike tiles, and then do AOE damage when he lands. Unfortunately, in order for it to work, you need 8 blue AP, 7 red AP, and for the enemy team to create a handful of really strong strike tiles for you to steal, but also not use them to obliterate your team first.
Just a general chiming back in to say isn’t it disappointing that there isn’t a passive effect while he’s airborne? While he’s airborne he is screaming. It is gonna be loud! Would it be that much to ask to have an effect sich as “while he is airborne enemy SAP tiles are 50% less effective” or “while he is airborne enemy powers cost X more to cast”?
Yes and no. The comics never seem to care about the negative impact of some guy screaming constantly on either the enemy or even your own team.
At minimum there would be some communication difficulties, you’d think.
Yes, but these are GEM MATCHING fights we’re having – this requires intense concentration! ![]()
There are some exceptions, I think, but generally you’re right. I have always chalked it up to lazy writing though.
He‘ll cause EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!!
Actually there is a Classic X-Men story (the one where they escape Magneto and go to the Savage Land) where Banshee and Cyclops are tunneling free of Mags base and Banshee’s sonic scream ruptures Wolverine’s ear drums. Obviously he gets better. Likewise another X-Men story has Wolverine complaining that having Banshee carry him to a fight is like having a jet fighter try and sneak up (or words to those effect). So they do acknowledge it but hey, comic books.
This reminds me of the Pete Holmes sketch where Nightcrawler gets fired because of the smell he generates when teleporting.
