New Character - Firebird (Bonita Juarez) 4*

WTS is always the very worst place they showcase these characters so whilst she isn’t so great 1 v 1 she could be a pain with that yellow AP and the healing in an actual team.

What were you guys were thinking when releasing this character, she needs to go back to the drawing board, can’t win against deathlok. you need to do a better job showcasing these characters in shield train..Instead of making look like jobbers

Remember that it’s the team’s strongest color. So it’ll only be yellow if that’s the case.

You could, for example, run with Pol BRB with him strongest and get tons of green AP to nuke people with.

Took several fights to win vs Deathlok. But i too was drowning in yellow. Also cascades into tons of yellow crits. Need teen Jean when fighting her to stop the crit madness.

@DAZ0273 I saw him hit her while airborne too. He has the ability to do that on his passive but only supposed to happen when his CD is out.

She also appeared to be healing way too often even when there was no reason for it. Something is amiss there.

So how much a big jump is a 15% chance in your team’s strongest color vs what the drop % chance is now? The wording doesn’t say a 15% increase in chance but a flat 15% chance.

I was looking but couldn’t figure out the odds for a Team Up in a normal turn. If I knew that, we could calculate the actual increase.

I think is 15x6 and then 10 for team up.

Appears she does about 40 percent chance overall in her strongest color.

Thanks. That’s insane and definitely not what was in their initial writeup.

Surprise. A new character release doesn’t do what the writeup of them said it should be doing!

I think I must also be waaaaay out of date but I don’t remember the big Firebird Vs Deathlok rivalry…

@bluewolf Didn’t even realise it was team strongest colour, is she maybe getting too big a boost for being solo?

@KGB I definitely saw her healing a lot. None of her powers seemed to function as I thought they would, gonna try her PvP.

Both Deathlok’s blue and black powers can target airborne enemies and he has a passive that reduces enemy damage. They definitely chose a tough enemy for her 1v1.

Did anyone else also notice that, as it’s 1v1, we don’t get the chance to use her red power whilst she’s airborne as it just goes straight to the enemy’s turn, however, when you face the enemy Firebird, she can use the red whilst airborne?

I must have gotten lucky, because it only took one try to beat Deathlok. Although I was annoyed that I couldn’t fire while airborne, but I guess it was just the 1-on-1 environment. It was over so quickly that I didn’t have enough to form a strong opinion on the character.

It did take me a while, but I won first time with my loaner against Deathlock, and let’s not forget he’s a very good character, so I actually think she’s pretty busted. He just couldn’t punch through the constant healing!

Glad to see at least some of their releases aren’t total duds. Just a shame about the recent 3 5 stars

We were being healed constantly because Deathlocks red passive amps the damage of all matches and abilities, so every time we took a tick of damage from anything he did, it got boosted by his red power, so we also got healed.

Makes perfect sense to me, and I think it’s pretty cool that it works this way. I just hope it’s intentional :joy:

Used 4 star Moonstone in the Riri node.

Just obliterated them in a couple of turns as I didn’t bother with yellow supports since I knew id collect plenty. Between making match 4 and 5s in black with Moonstone and falling yellow it was a critical tile fest that wiped them.

Have done some testing and she’s absolutely busted when paired with any character that has a tile destruction power in their highest damage match colour.

Moonknight 5 is actually a solid pick to demonstrate this, so long as you have a copy that has higher match damage than the loaner Firebird. You can pretty much infinitely fire his green, as many green cascades will result.

A good example that everyone has in their back pocket is 1asc5 Juggs. Spam green for unlimited random board destruction.

Other notable good partners include MThor (oh joy), Wong, Frankencastle, Mojo (if you’ve got him) and definitely Mag5. He might be the most fun I’ve had with this so far!

Man-thing kinda works, but only destroys 4 tiles, so not as effective at generating reliable cascades.

I actually like all parts of her kit, having used her with many partners, but the blue passive is clearly her strongest feature. Honorary mention to the very easy to pull off Team True-heal, which will be the standout winner for any players who hate spending health packs. We know you’re out there!

So when a Firebird team faces another Firebird team, what is the order of events for determining percentages of tile chance improvement and then tile chance dis-improvement? I can’t tell but it really feels like the reduction in enemy chance isn’t happening at all. However, there’s no realistic way to see the numbers to tell what is working and what isn’t.

I don’t think it would be surprising to find out that the game doesn’t have any ability to resolve conflicting effects on the color of dropping tiles in a Firebird mirror (or her PvP). It probably just goes with the increase.

I would be curious to see Firebird v Domino if black is strongest.

I wonder if she stacks with the Hulk support. If she does, Frankie/Hulk/Firebird could be very annoying.

There might be a very stupid combo here with Firebird, Hydra Stomper, and somebody whose strongest color is black. Maybe GG to fortify all the CDs?

I think there are a lot of possibilities.

Oof, yeah , hard to tell if they meant the math to work out that way. Giving Juggy1 a turn 1 infinite on green should be an accident, but who can say anymore. I ran it 5 times, and only once did it take a 2nd turn to infinite.

Dominos reads 100% HIGHER chance, vs hers just saying 35% chance to be that color. So Dominos shooould be 28.5% compared to her 35%, but if feels worlds apart. Whatever the case, all of this different nomenclature is bummin me out.

She also wants maximum destruction while creating and fortifying tiles that… will get destroyed.

I’m going to take a wild stab and say that Domino’s 100% extra chance means 15% plus a further 15% =30% total, whereas Firebird’s is 15% + 35% =50% total chance.

Presumably if they’re both on the same team and it stacks it’ll work out as 30% + 35% = 65%? Cue all the maths people telling me why that’s wildly inaccurate…

She also brings the added flexibility that it’s not just black that she makes more likely, meaning she can fit in many more teams.

Anyway, clearly the math is irrelevant. ‘Juggs go Bonk’ is all we need to know.

Edit. Having run them together with black as my highest match damage, I don’t think Domino & Firebird stack their abilities. Hard to say which one is taking priority though
