I apologize for the suddeness of this change, we normally want to get information on any character changes out a little early. However, due to some pre-release balancing effects on Daken (Classic), we also decided that it would be best at the same time to make the change on Daken (DA Wolverine) that would keep the two forms in-line with one another. This data patch will be rolling out in just a bit today.
Pheremone Rage - Purple Passive
(PASSIVE) Daken releases a scent that sets his enemies on edge, using their anger to his advantage. Whenever anyone makes a Green match, add a Red Strike tile to the board. Level Upgrades

Daken (Classic)
Pheremone Rage Level 5 received a similar change to two less powerful Strike tiles for greater overall effect at reduced effectiveness per tile.
Daken (Classic)'s abilities have now been declassified.
These changes overall bring Daken's Strike tile generation when used at high level into reasonable bounds and also prevents a high level AI version of either form of Daken from running away with Strike tile increases due to a lucky cascade.</span>
There’s such a huge difference of a 2x38 strike tiles vs 2x34 tiles… Even at the higher end an extra 10-20 points really isn’t going to make much of a difference.
Just checked my max Daken and his tiles are now 2x24. So its more like a 28 pt reduction on every pair at max level. Not sure how much that would be when he is scaled beyond lvl 69.
Correct. I’ve just updated the OP with the corrected values. This kind of math misunderstanding is easy to get into and is exactly why we migrated most of the abilities over to displaying straight numbers instead of percents.
2 Strike tiles at 24 = 48 increased damage from 2 tiles compared to 1 Strike tile at 38. Which would actually be at 34 strength since with only 9 covers his max level would be 61.
Ok. Thanks. I thought I had 2 tiles when I was at 4. I maxed him a week or two ago and don’t remember. He is actually one of my faves. I’m hoping to win his new version this time around to see if I like him. Because there are several characters that I like their lower star levels better (with 2* Storm leveled decently, I still prefer 1* Storm, etc.)
This is a terrible change for players that like and use Daken, but a great change for players who bitch about high level PVE Daken battles.
After all the promised nerfs that have never materialized all of the character changes players have been requesting, I gotta say I am surprised by this one.
I hate to sound dense, but what does this mean in plain simple English?
Daken (Classic)

for greater overall effect? What does that mean exactly? I guess I don’t understand the sentence. How can it be greater overall effect but less effective per tile?
I saw this at announcements section before and thought it was about Gold Daken. Speaking of making old Daken’s abilities on par with the new version, do you plan to add the third ability to him?
Daken 2* was probably better than Wolverine 2* most of the time as long as you got red covered prior to this change. Now he’s not but that’s more to do with the fact that’s also 16 levels lower due to a lack of third ability.
Good to see that they actually realized Daken’s strike tiles are pretty insane overall and presents a huge problems when scaled to ultra high levels for PvE. Now at least it won’t be instant game over when anybody makes a green match against Daken for the ultra high level PvEs.
