Although I do like the new art [Women’s Month] for Captain Marvel, it’s not suited for Steam.
Maybe someone could post a screenshot to show. The cover would have be rotated 180° or flipped vertically, neither of which I’d approve of and doubt Marvel would either.
Same applied to the [Women’s Month] StarLord cover as well.
Current Captain Marvel - People have said they don’t like it because it looks like Janine from the Blink-182 cover and that is why I do like it because it looks like Janine from the Blink-182 cover.
Current Deadpool - After seeing this for a few weeks(?) I prefer the original Hastings variant. The Head cover does have symmetry with the Deadpool vs MPQ event.
Current IW - The variant looks like she is being attacked by staplers and not the deadly red Swinglines. Sue Storm, Office Manager
Current Rocket and Groot - The variant is okay but R&G have their backs turned.
The only variant covers I like better than the originals are Squirrel Girl and Starlord. The rest are going from meh to abysmal - don’t even get me started on how awful the Deadpool cover is.
Yeah, I agree. The Deadpool variant looks like art that would get mailed to Wizard magazine back in the day from readers.
The only ones I like better or as good as the originals are: Squirrel Girl, Lady Thor, Grocket, and Captain Marvel. Invisible Woman I kinda liked, but the huge SHIELD emblem distracts from her Fantastic Four ties - at least to me.
It seems that I may be the minority, but from new covers I like only squirell girl. Rest look worse than original.
Also, they look much different, I mean style of drawing is different.
And I liked original Deadpool cover most (Hey look, Im in a video game! ) Much better than those two big eyes.
I am surprised by what people like, so I guess I am in the minority. With the exception of Deadpool’s variant, all other variant covers are worse than the current ones.
IW - One of the best covers in the game, so I don’t see why someone would want to change that. The variant is edfinitely not bad, but worse than the original. You can’t even tell what her powers are from this.
CM - Not among the top 5, but I still like it a lot. The smirk is much better on the cover than it translates on the posing model though. The variant looks like it was picked from deviantart from a “just OK” artist.
Deadpool - I strongly dislike this cover. There is Deadpool taste and then there is dumb taste. The variant is awesome and funny. +100
Rocket & Groot - One the best in game. Good graphics and does what all covers should do. Give an awesome picture of the characters. Yep, as you guessed not all covers do this in this game. The variant is relatively funny, but the art is lacking. The current cover is a keeper.
Edit: Actually, about IW variant, after looking at it for several minutes, I start liking it. Less than the original, but I am moving slowly to “No preference” territory. It becomes obvious that with her powers she blends to the background which indicates she can turn invisible. Subtle. Not bad.
For Deadpool I also start shifting to “No preference”. Maybe it was that I hate the head cover, but after some time the variant also looks weird. I don’t know anymore. Just give him a good cover. He deserves it.
I don’t understand the appeal of the old deadpool. It’s a big pitcure of his face - big deal. For a series known for it’s funny and original covers I don’t think you could have picked a worse one
I’m always glad when my votes match the overwhelming majority. All of these variants are weak, but only Invisible Woman had an original cover that was so bad that anything would be better.
Can we just have the 8-bit NES-style Deadpool cover back once these variants time out?
There was no reason to change it to terrible. Current variant is better than whatever the hell that was it randomly changed to.
