I was able to knock out all of these fights pretty easily with 5
Magneto/2
Nightcrawler. Chain Nightcrawler purple and Magneto blue to blow up the board over and over again. For the challenge node I used 5
Namor as the 3rd – his green power blows up even more tiles, and even unboosted, his black hits like a truck when you’re running THAT much board destruction.
This is exactly what I do. I have zero interest in placement or Heroics and doing what I normally do will get me T200 at a minimum.
There is no reason you can’t do a hybrid though and pick and choose. The 5E has been consistently beatable on Heroic and that double amount of CP is nice and the extra points speeds up progression. Obviously this might not be the case for future Heroics depending on your roster, I have all 5s champed barring Shatterstar so feel like it is worth a go depending on the situation.
I often peek at the rosters that surround me points wise. Virtually all are much better than mine (lots of 5 star champs (all the meta), often many characters well over the 500 range all the way to 550s) in terms of being leveled up. It seems almost impossible to me that those rosters don’t know how to score better given they’d have to have been playing for a LOT of years to get there.
Note that I do zero timing tricks to increase score other than doing 3 clears sometime during the middle of the day (at least 12 hrs after the sub has opened) and another clear late a night (2-3 hrs before it ends) and as I said I often do not do final clears of 5E and sometimes 4E nodes.
I won’t be doing any heroic in the current event so I will be curious to see if it changes anything at all.

Presumably if you’re doing roughly the same each sub you also see what I see, namely that placement in the final sub event is always a lot better than the average for the overall event. People hit progression and quit out.
Why would spending money on costumes irk people as dumb stuff? Those are the best HP deals.
The last few PVE’s with no X-men boosted I was using Polaris, Kitty, and p5 namor all at 550. Some of the fights were rough, but once it got rolling they couldn’t be stopped.
This PVE is much easier not only with easier enemies, but I have 2a5 Nightcrawler boosted to 672 and AOA Magneto boosted to 612. Krakoa on Mag and power stone on NC. Using NC purple and mags blue every match is cascade extravaganza. Polaris as a third just to take adavantage of mags yellow, but may try swapping in Namor again as EB suggested.
Yeah maybe I need to update my priors on that one. It used to be that the costumes themselves were viewed as silly and pointless by the competitive folks. Maybe the bundles used to be worse?
With the Magneto/Nightcrawler engine you end up with a lot of AP in random colors so I was looking for somebody to cover the ones those guys couldn’t use. I’m using Magneto blue and yellow, plus Nightcrawler purple and red, and so I needed somebody to use black and green. Namor seemed like a good fit. His black actually does hit crazy hard with this much board destruction, and green is fine.
I am using 12 purple AP supports, with the Soul Stone. My strongest color is blue which works out great for Magneto. If your strongest color is purple because of Nightcrawler, that might be even better!
You might be thinking of the very first costume offers for 75$ (Thor and Bonberjacket CM). Which had a worse value than adjusted Stark .
But those days are long gone. The costume offers are amongst the best in the game. Especially for 5s. 2k HP (and a potential 500), a 5 star cover and some tokens for 10.
The Daredevil in black jeans was 100 bucks. Came with other stuff but still. Those were not good costume times. Current costume offers are fairly well liked.
Anyway back to the original topic. If this is what is meant to happen then great. Give us notice and real boosts on the weekly heroic characters. Dropping it on a Sunday when the Monday is a holiday for the devs is just messy and likely accidental. But like the PvP points change this is probably something they wanted to test out. Would be great to hear from them about it.
Remember I compared this game to a burning car? Well that burning car has now fallen off a cliff after taking out several people and is now just a massive destructive force plummeting towards a tnt factory
Too much?
Where do the bank and burger store come into play?
I think the metaphor breaks down somewhat because you can just stop playing MPQ/get out of the car, any time you want.
So far about 1/2 - 2/3 of our usual optimal players have already given a big thumbs down to the idea of HEROIC basically taking over PVE – only 2-3 of our top players seem to be happy with the change. Vets aren’t keen to add 30-45+ min per day, younger players with families have vetoed the extra time, players doing alt accts certainly aren’t going to do it.
Hi folks,
Just reposting the explainer in this thread:
I joined my usual slice in S5 about 5 hrs from the end and did 4 clears of all nodes but the 5E. This morning when I woke up 9 hrs after the first sub ended I am 170th which is where I normally am on day 1. So I’ll still easily finish T200 with potential for T100.
So Heroic points boost isn’t going to change T200 at least for me.
KGB
Heroics will likely only impact the T10 a bit.
The vast majority of players are by definition not T10 out of 1000 players. Once you’re not chasing T10 it’s incredibly lax and T50 or T100 is very close in rewards; you can hit T100 with just doing all the nodes to 0 whenever you want, basically. I should say T50 is probably a bit more competitive for people who really need HP etc.
In any case doing Heroics and playing the same will, I bet, just change a little where you end up since a majority of players will probably still not do Heroics more because they don’t care enough even with extra points.
People who have been playing long enough to be in SCL10 have patterns and habits of playing and adding significant time onto that isn’t really of interest. If you’re a 550 everyone player the time extra is not that huge and its manageable, probably, but for a lot of people it’s going to be much harder to just decide to shift over and most players do not probably have any real sense of the points they get from playing nodes.
