R345 Outage - A Compensation guide for the Devs

Thanos snapped his fingers and eliminated half of the player base. To regain some modicum of trust from all the players that have been locked out of the game, compensation needs to be adequate. At least equal to what players have missed out on. But what do players miss out on?

So here is a handy overview for @TheMigz @Jeto @S0kun what the absolute minimum baseline compensation is.
This will be based on SCL10 Heroic T5 players as that’s what the people who worked together to compile this list are.

We are counting from today’s date, Thursday 20/08, until the usual update day on iOS, Tuesdays, so 25/08.

In that period we have the following events:

  • DDQ - 5x
  • PVP - Off-Season Event - Doop
  • PVP - Season Event - Rogue
  • PVP - Season Event - Banshee
  • PVP - Season Event - Storm (at least the start of it)
  • PVP - Season Event - Sim PVP (time to play in it)
  • PVP - The actual Season
  • PVE - Honor Amongst Thieves
  • PVE - Thick As Thieves
  • Daily Play Token - Spider Verse
  • Daily Deals Reduced Cost of tokens for vaults and stores
  • Offers in game, including those tied to season (the 1000 XP for HP) and the new character release
  • For those that don’t apply covers immediately due to various reasons: the covers that expired

So what exactly do we need (and I’ll need the help of someone that can actually get into the game to post below the exact rewards so I can update)

DDQ:

  • full progression rewards and daily rewards for 5 days.

Daily Play:

  • One token for Spider-Verse daily play vault per day
  • One token for use of Carpool each day
  • Deadpool points

Doop off-Season event:

  • T5 SCL10 placement rewards
  • Full progression rewards (for those that hadn’t yet)
  • Around 40-45 assorted 1 & 2 star covers from doing 50 wins as win drop rewards. I’m just counting 50 as that’s the minimum one can assume, though many do a lot more. The amount of covers is based on the average drop rate info compiled over many seasons.

Rogue Season event:

  • T5 SCL10 placement rewards
  • Full SCL10 progression rewards
  • Around 40-45 assorted 1 & 2 star covers from doing 50 wins as win drop rewards.

Banshee Season event:

  • T5 SCL10 placement rewards
  • Full SCL10 progression rewards
  • Around 40-45 assorted 1 & 2 star covers from doing 50 wins as win drop rewards

Storm Season event:

  • Some compensation for lost time to play

Simulator Season PVP

  • Some compensation for lost time to play

Season

  • Since players will miss at least two full events, placement is impossible for them. This season is a Stone that has already been given out for free, but there are new players and players that still need support shards so:
  • 2-3 Ten Packs
  • Space Stone

Honor Amongst Thieves

  • Every single node reward as if Heroic SCL10 (so 1 Classic per sub for instance)
  • Sub reward as if Heroic SCL10 t5
  • Alliance sub rewards as if Heroic SCL10 t5 (this needs to go out to unaffected players as well)
  • Full event progression rewards SCL10
  • Full personal placement rewards SCL10 t5
  • Alliance Placement rewards SCL10 (this needs to go out to unaffected players as well)

Thick As Thieves

  • Every single node reward as if Heroic SCL10 (so 1 Classic per sub for instance)
  • Sub reward as if Heroic SCL10 t5
  • Alliance sub rewards as if Heroic SCL10 t5 (this needs to go out to unaffected players as well)
  • Full event progression rewards SCL10
  • Full personal placement rewards SCL10 t5
  • Alliance Placement rewards SCL10 (this needs to go out to unaffected players as well)

Daily Deals/Lightning Vaults/etc..

  • Extend timers on vaults? Send some extra tokens?

Limited time offers:

  • Rerun all offers that ran during this period, even if it means that unaffected players can buy it twice. Not that anyone is going to give you money, but at least offer the option to.

VIne:

  • Any covers that expired (case by case basis)

If anyone else can think of something we missed, please comment.

@TheMigz @Jeto @S0kun This is our absolute minumum baseline for expected compensation. Feel free to be generous and lure people back. But this issue and the time you will take to resolve it is a death sentence. Your reaction will determine if the game has a future or not. Show you can make things right.

Thank you in advance.

Edit:

Just give the stuff for the day outage. Thx for a quicker temp fix.

@LuxAurae leading the charge!

Good write up , but i would temper your expectations.

Look i get people are angry, its hard to stay positive when we’ve been smashed over the head with questionable decisions, and now a good majority of the playerbase are unable to access the game.

As far as I can remember I dont think this has happened for such a prolonged period of time. And I will not tell people how they should react to this. But let’s try and keep it civil, im sure ip2 are aware of the implications and are doing all they can.

We’ve got a few days before the weekend, let’s see what progress can be made.

Seeing as the current team have decided that player anniversary rewards from Year 12 onwards are no longer given, I’m expecting any compensation to be a couple of standard tokens and a few hundred iso

It’s not about expectations. This isn’t compensation. These are the items missed for being locked out of play during this period.

Compensation would be everything they add on TOP of this.

It’s on them to send a clear signal if they want to continue with the game, or if they are working to end the game.

I would say, instead of Space stone, out in Reality and Mind stones.

S0kun already hinted at Anniversary giving away one of those. But the OP is minimum expected compensation. Only included the Space Stone just because it is already worthless from a seasonal POV. So easy add-on to give most people some shards, and to let new players that never got it by starting after the give-away get it.

Man, I am so pissed off I count ask for the whole suite of stones…at a minimum. I’m about to go on my honeymoon, and I wanted to play this game while I was away, for two weeks. And pay, to have Internet, just for this game. I could only imagine being this pissed off on vacation because of what the devs did. In my heart, I am have serious reservations (and resentment). There might be cats, who take this game too seriously. I’m one of them. This game means everything to me. I need this game, like food. It’s that serious to me.

And brother, I appreciate you. You’re doing a good thing. And I also realize that we aren’t guaranteed anything. But if so have a soapbox to complain, let’s also through on the repeated frustrations, anger, and time lost that these post Unity bugs have cost us. It’s gotten to the point where people are sacrificing their lives, time with loved ones (I give up bedroom activities for this game). And the devs don’t really appreciate our sacrifices. To them this is a business. But to be on this receiving end, it hurts. For some, more than others. I’ve tried quitting this game in the past, and I can’t. I genuinely can’t. It’s like an abusive relationship. Either they give us the world, or nothing, I’d still play. That’s all I want to do. Crappy characters, whatever. Playing this game is an important element in our lives. And gestures, of real value, something truly difficult to obtain by normal means, is a token of understanding that they really negatively effected our lives. They may not have bugged the code. But it’s their ship now. Holes and all, it’s their responsibility to pay us back, generously for the many instances we have suffered since they took over. If there ever was a time to take a stand, and ask for a big pay day, this is that time (we may not get another, if they are smart).

Yea this is a wild amount. I think they’re no way they would give this much.

At the risk of them breaking more things, I reckon triple rewards for the next few events would be a good compensation

I think this listing is on the money! We have hung in through a host of frustrating issues since the unity migration. At this point more players may leave if compensation is not as suggested.

While triple rewards for the next few events would in part already be much more than suggested above in terms of placement/progression/node rewards, it does lack all the cover drops and daily rewards, etc.. And does nothing to compensate anyone because that would be for all players, including those unaffected.
That’s not a compensation. That’s a peace offering that can go on top.

And again, it’s not about what you think they will give based on a history of poor compensation. It’s a tabulation of the items we will miss and have a right to. A bare minimum amount of goods upon which they can then add on compensation.

Please don’t give up on getting what we have a direct right to before they even comment on anything. That’s just defeatist.

Valid points, but if they’re smart, they should find a way to both compensate, but get people back in to playing.

I’ll take double rewards and a compensation package

This is why they should meet LuxAurae’s suggestions. With so much winning, even a few retired players might come back.

I repeat what I said in the broken update thread.
These devs are the stingiest devs ever.
They’ve had near weekly glitches with the current one the cherry on top.
They act like we don’t deserve anything for sticking around while they glacially try to fix things.
It should be raining compensation instead the misers from Melbourne are headed for the weekend.

Well looks like I will have to play my quiz games for a few days, really hoping we don’t lose half our alliance like last time

I’d say we should be glad if the dev compensates anything substantial… Not looking forward to it. Prove me wrong, @TheMigz

Giving us exactly what we will be missing out on & should have gotten is the literal definition of compensation. I’m not saying your expectations are wrong or that you’re wrong to want it, and extra rewards to get back some good will would definitely be a good move on their part.

I need to quibble with this. The people in Melbourne are coders and apparently are at least mostly responsible for the game design decisions but the buck stops either in California where 505go is or with the Italian Digital Brothers.

The people who sign off on sending us more stuff - for whatever reason that may be - are not in Melbourne. They are owned by the people above them who collect the money the game makes.

Their calculation is simple. More free stuff, less money spent, probably. Seeking that balance. See how the pass rewards and season vault got worse as our spending dropped. Do you think that was an accident or random? The same people in CA and Italy are behind the game since 2022.

Times sure have changed. When I went on my Honeymoon in the 90s I was doing something other than playing video games

Yikes! :face_with_peeking_eye::face_with_peeking_eye: At least these next few days it’ll be like your boost week outside the game!
